The manifold is good for about 1-2 Hp when you are running 19-20 pounds on a GT3071R(425+HP), aka not worth it at all, the stock manifold will NEVER crack. Full Race is good for maybe 4 hp at that level.
Downpipe you could notice, nothing a but dyno will really notice. unless you still have the stocker + Cat,
The manifold will increase your spool time on a T25 but the downpipe will decrease it.
nice going, you just crushed that kids’ excitment…
but really, all the little things add up right? a down pipe may only give you 4 hp, but its 4 hp yuou didnt have before…
Don’t worry, I’m used to it by now. every post i make i seem to get bashed by a couple certain individuals. He’s just being honest though. i wasnt expecting crazy HP numbers by any means.
HOPFULLY i can get more than 4 hp out of full 3 inch exhaust?
I noticed an awesome increase with a header on my SR convrtible. I had a header with stock down pipe and an e-bay FMIC on stock boost and 3" cat back and went gained a full second in the quarter. Was doing 13.9-14.1’s all day long. Befor those basic mods I was doing 15’s. Well worth the money. That was also with factory T25.
I am just the giver of truth.
There was a thread on NICO or zilvia about different manifolds. Full race saw a 4 HP gain (over the whole curve) with a GT3071R running 19-20 pounds on a SR. The E-bay special lost some and gained some over stock.
But a full 3 inch exhaust (turbo ext, downpipe, exhaust) is very nice and gives nice sound as well as gains. Especialy if you want to crank the boost.
Absolutely. Stock parts should be fairly well matched to the engine in stock form. When you start blasting more air through it, the narrow passages become bottlenecks. Opening them up will give you the biggest gains only when you start cranking up engine airflow, either by turning up boost or focussing on other efficiency mods. (CAI, intake plumbing, top end porting, less restrictive exhaust.)
Travis, your biggest gain from the new manifold will come from getting rid of that exhaust leak!
Cheers,
Dan
Word and the mani looks cool
Get a turbo extention while you are fixing it. Definatly worth it, but depending of what you have in there now you might need the fat style O2 sensor.
Nice manifold it looks very similar to mine
Get a 3inch turbo elbo too…Dont be a cheap Arse. :E
after 12 hours of messing around with the mani and dp they are on. 2 studs broke, one fell out. the turbo was so loose on the mani that i could hand loosen the 4 bolts right off. there was no gasket in sight…also the manifold itself would not slide into the studs. shitty craftsmanship at its finest right there (had to drill out the holes).its all on now and the car is pulling nicely. im making 12 PSI though? any reason why this could be happening? i got rid of all my emission crap tonight too. maybe its something i capped off or moved?
ill be getting a greddy turbo elbow and 3 inch exhaust next month before it gets parked! maybe a fmic too? ill post up some pics tommorow sometime if i get around to it
