well i only told willybeen and kuntryquest, but about a week ago i overtightened my chain and now my front sprocket is noisy (UGH), bike is still ok to ride but i dont wanna risk fucking something up, so im replacing it with a chain and sprocket kit, going +2 in the rear for harder acceleration :eekdance::eekdance::eekdance::eekdance::eekdance:, rear srpocket will be blue to match the bike with gold chain =)
ill have progress pics once i get my stands and manual in the mail i just bought
I think he meant you are posting it too soon. Would’ve been wise to post after you did the gearing change. Sounds good though, are you just going up 2 in the back or down one up front too? Also you can get a blue chain through either RK or EK I don’t remember which one though.
ive been checkin out a couple sites and doing research, with the 1000cc guys, +2 in the rear is the most popular, if ya do +2 and down one in the front, you lose about 20mph top end with gas mileage, ya barely lose anything with the +2 in the rear and supposedly its the most noticeable, i started first findin sum info at motomummy.com, thats where im gettin my chain kit, the chains gonna be gold, just the sprocket blue
well no pics yet but i am in the process of purchasing som fix up parts =), new bearing, seal, and c ring =) when the front sprocket comes out, the other stuff slides out behind it so hopefully it wont be so bad, kuntryquest is helpin me out over at don georges
Take pics of WHAT broke… i’m curious to see what the issue is… ps, putting a girl on the bike after the chain was stretched all the way out isnt going to do anything unless you had that thing at some ridiculous tension. IIRC that bike had relatively low mileage.
nothing really broke, i think i put a little too much stress on it, the old owner didnt have the chain lubed and it was a little loose, so i tightened it, had about .6 inches of play, im a light guy so i didnt thik nothing of it, next day put my girl on the back, all of a sudden from the sprocket cover PSSSFSFSFSFSFSSSSSSSSSSPSSSSSFSFSFS, put the rear wheel up and turned it, coming right from the sprocket, did a search on gixxer forums, couple of people did the same thing and had to replace the bearing behind the sprocket
its not soo bad cause im still riding the bike around, but i ordered a chain and sprocket kit before it even happend so since its coming apart anyways, i guess it was perfect timing
ive got like new gear and sprocket combos that were on my zx 10. fronts are same as a busa fitment as far as others i have no idea. if ihave somethin you need it will be cheap. pm me.
well turns out the damaged bearing on the driveshaft needs to have the case split open, and im not dickin with that, so im just gonna ride it out, still progress pics coming on the new chain and sprockets
edit: took it to ray laks, guys looked it over, said everything was in good shape, they took it for a ride and said that the bikes normal, hopefully i lucked out
