Recently bought all new speakers for the Z because i’m tired of loving loud music and having a shitty 17 year old stereo. All that’s left is finding what to plug all the speakers into.
I’ve always been a big fan of Alpine and their reputation. I dont really want anything too flashy, it would annoy me while i’m driving, and Alpine’s are very subtle when it comes to looks, so i like. Also, the Alpine comes with Bluetooth technology, another plus for me. Finally, the Alpine is about $70 cheaper…
On the other hand, Pioneer also has a great reputation, and i hear good things from personal friends of mine about their products…unfortunately none of my friends have Alpine head units so i can’t say the same from experience about Alpine. It puts out 22 watts rms x 4 channels as opposed to the 18 the Alpine puts out…doesn’t sound like a lot, but that’s about 20% more…so i think it is significant…and i dont want to be spending all this money on speakers to only be able to hear half of what they can do.
Personally ive had good experiences with both. But id have to say i like the way the pioneers look and play cds better. My mx6 had a nice pioneer that was an model 03 and it would play the most scratched up cds perfect and wouldnt skip and had alot of nice features.I currently have an older 03 version of the alpine that u listed in my integra and it works great and has tons of good features than can totally change the way the music sounds with the mx mode. But it does skip on certain cds .My buddy also has last years model of that alpine u listed and it wont play a cd with like any scratches on it and he ended up using an older poineer and liked it alot more.
Both companies make good cd players, I’ve seen fewer problems with Alpines needing to be serviced, but both are a good choice. I’ve literally installed hundreds of each brand over the years. Both decks you picked are going to do pretty much the same thing.
The only real advantage of the Pioneer is the bling factor and the bigger built in amp.
The Alpine lets you add on bluetooth capibilities and is a more basic deck, as far as looks and controls go, which alot of people like.
I’ve had Pioneer decks in my cars in the past, but am now use Alpine…either way your buying a quality deck. Eclipse used to make some of the best decks out there, but their far from the best now adays.
alpines are great imho, and not as “look at me” flashy like alot of other radio’s. pioneers have a good rep too tho, so i guess either way you really can’t go wrong. if you were comparing them to say jvc or sony, then the answer would be alot more clear cut
Pioneer over alpine for sure, pioneers are so much more user friendly and easy to read in my opinion. plus the sound quality is worlds better. go with pioneer premier if you want even better quality though:tup:
