So in one of the 200 texts i have recived about my gti i have had one that stick out like a sore thumb. A kid is telling me that he is selling his A4 and some how it came up that he repalced his timing belt with a chain becuase it was better than a belt.
This kid has been blasting me telling me that his 2004 a4 has a chain now instead of a belt cause his mechanin changed it over.

The car does have a chain and a belt, and no way in hell that …ok, sorry, I’m sure it’s possible…the belt was swapped for a chain.

Maybe it’s just me but the car in the second pic doesn’t have a sun roof, unless it was installed after. Just an observation.

true. My assumption is that his mechanic told him that he had a timing chain failure. he probably had the chain and belt replaced at the same time and he was told that he does not have to worry about the belt anymore (becuase of a 80-100K interval) and this dude understood the conversation as he replaced a chain in my car so that means I don’t have a belt anymore. With that said it would be awesome if they would stop using timing belts in interference engines!
