I had this same problem - the clay pipe collapsed. Its been almost 2 years since I had my whole front lawn dug up which replaced the main line from the house to the street. My next task is to have my basement dug up because the galvanized pipe is in bad shape
I recommend R.I.C. for these type of jobs and they are reasonably priced and have the right equipment - Either 2,500 to 3,500 while Franks and Roto-Rooter wanted 5K+.
The sewer lines from house to street were apparently replaced by the previous owner shortly before we moved in (2 years ago) so those should be <10years old.
