Polamalu!....

LATROBE, Pa. (July 23, 2007) – Pittsburgh Steelers star safety Troy Polamalu signed a four-year contract extension that made him the team’s highest-paid player and one of the NFL’s top-paid defensive backs.

Terms were not immediately available, but Polamalu’s agent, Marvin Demoff, was seeking a signing bonus in the $15 million to $18 million range – far more than the Steelers have given any player.

Polamalu’s signing was the second major contract deal by the Steelers in two days. They agreed to a five-year contract with outside linebacker Lawrence Timmons, their first-round draft pick, that guarantees him $12 million and could be worth as much as $15 million.

Polamalu was a first-team All-Pro player when the Steelers won the Super Bowl during the 2005 season and was a second team All-Pro in 2004. He made the Pro Bowl the last three seasons and, besides being known for the flowing black hair that streams out of his helmet, is widely regarded as one of the league’s top defensive players.

His contract was announced minutes before the Steelers officially opened their first training camp under new coach Mike Tomlin with conditioning tests, a much-dreaded drill that former coach Bill Cowher previously held until the second day of camp.

Polamalu, a former Southern California player, has 10 sacks and 10 interceptions during his four-season career.

boooooo

sweet great guy too doesnt get into trouble

sweet…for that much money that guy better work on his coverage

he deserves it

yay

he wont play out the contract… the guy would rather be gettin in touch with his inner self on some island in the pacific… meaning… he seems like one of those players who could quit at anytime and be content… ala tiki barber.

well, with all the rumors of him wanting to back out west and not wanting to re-sign, im happy hes gonna stay. im surprised we were willing to pay him that much. somewhat unlike the Rooneys to do that.

he doesnt wanna be the kind of guy that goes from team to team, he also lives in pittsburgh year round, he cant dislike it that much. glad to have him sign longer
