Poll: Food service takes a bigger tip than you gave

Don’t get me wrong I tip fairly in my mind. Typically double tax in Buffalo and triple tax in MI. Round up if it was good service and down if it wasn’t.
Heck pre-tax I almost gave 15% on take out for this order. Just hate the idea that someone decided to take more because they thought I wouldn’t notice.

I don’t get this whole double tax nonsense. 10-20% is the easiest math to figure out ever.

Your bill’s 25$? Bam, decimal in the center, 10% = $2.50. Double that and easy 20% tip. I really don’t get what the seinfield skit about tipping is about.

Does everyone here usually tip on take out orders that you pick up? I of course tip on delivery and usually tip at least 20% after tax on dine in, but I almost never tip on pick up.

Agreed, there’s no reason to tip on take-out. If it’s like 18.80 and you give them a 20 that’s more than reasonable IMO.

Also what about BUFFET tipping? Usually I just get water and 2-3 plates, so I tip 1-2$. I NEVER tip more than two bucks at a buffet though. I don’t know if I’ve ever left nothing.

werd, thats like tipping the window person at mcdonalds. just doesnt make sense.

troooth

also, for anyone thats ever confused as to how much to tip, 15-20% is a good number. what i usually do is look at the sales tax (8.75%), double it, and round up. a solid 20% tip
