But getting paid 13 hours to change the headgaskets, I cant complain…

i laughed

They’re not bad, they’re just tricky. I can say the exact same about JDM cars, because I think honda sucks to.

:stuck_out_tongue: so it works all ways. But yea i can see why you think it sucks hehe.

lol dude that shit is gravy. wait til you do the minivans where there isnt that much room back there.

I was looking at a Montana I was doing an oil change on today, thinking to myself wow, I’m certainly glad its not on one of these things… I couldnt even imagine

at first they suck. after you’ve done a couple dozen. bah. gravy work. love it. get paid for 13 to do heads takes you 7-8 if that usually. intake 7 hours with full tune-up etc. takes me 4 and a half now. cleaning everything nice nice. keep the customer happy. i love those jobs.

don’t do many head gaskets though. 99% of the time it’s the intake

there easy

have you ever worked on a gm car before? its like the cars wasnt built to be fixed, yet they break down like theres no tommorow

^^^^
are you kidding me? every car is built to break down eventually. why did they come out with dex cool? nothng but problems ever since…hmmm.

its what drives our economy (as fucked as it is anyways)

can’t handle the heat? get out of a shop my friend. take it as it comes. get used to it

^^^
I take it that you never owned or even worked on a gm vehicle before…?

I work at a GM dealer. 3400 intake manifold gaskets are very common. We have a 3.4 rendevous on the hoist right now for head gaskets.

you have got to be kidding me right?

i work in a shop. will and always have been a gm guy.

if you took the time to educate yourself on my before you make a judgement then you would know i have an 88 s-10, 87 s15 (hence my name…guess your oblivious as well) and an 86 z-28 track car.

i believe the author of this thread was just stating that the job it self is a pain in the ass. not because it is difficult. simply because you do them how often. becomes to much of a routine.

so please take your head out of your ass and educate yourself

how many intakes and head jobs you guys do on the 3.4 based on a monthly average? my father and i run an independent shop in brampton and i’d say we average at least 4 a month. i’ve had it where i’ve had to do two at once.

Cant say I’ve seen too many at our shop for head gaskets, in fact this is the first one I’ve seen. Intake gaskets though, thats another story…

And I just thought it was a funny picture, its not been a horrible job thus far, theres just some things I’ve stopped and scratched my head, and said to myself really, they couldnt have done this any better? Got 3.5 hours into the dissasembly, probably a bit longer to re-assemble. Have it out of the shop in maybe 9-10 hours total, get paid for 13. Now I just have to wait for the machine shop to send the heads back.

wow… i have never met somebody on the boards soo ignorant before…

Look Bud! I didnt post in this thread to have a bitch fight with some “gm junky”. I have owned a modern, gm vehicle, still have one in my house hold, and worked mostly on gm cars through-out school. I helped and seen some work done to modern gm cars. I was actually going to buy a 87 jimmy with a lt1, but they always have something wrong with them

Look at how many years i have been a member of the forums, and how many post i have made. I dont shit out my mouth, so go back to your gm clubs and you can discuss how much you like them cars

lower intake maniford gasket will blow

i worked at gm before but i quit because its the same thing everyday…

so now i’m ignorant?

don’t start something if you have no intentions of finishing it.

and i thought Quote:
