Just make sure the pool is running 24hrs a day. I hope you vaccumed it to waste in the first place. Is this an above ground or in ground pool and Liner or Gunite?
OriginalSin sounds like a real deal pool boy and his advice is legit. Dont get your water tested anywhere, they will rip you off. They dont even work in the field.

yep, my pool was like that 2 years ago, took forever, you will need to find something to combine all the small particles enough to settle them out… and in the end the culprit was the sand filter.
