we opened our pool about a week ago … took a few days to vacuume all the crap out. our pH ,Alky, and chlorine levels are Ok …But the god damn water is still cloudy … WHat to do … What to do
take a clean bottle of water to beauty pools they’ll test it all in depth and tell you everything you need to know. then go to a cheaper place and buy it all

hahaha
this man knows his stuff…
wat type of filter? was it originally green?
if those levels are ok no need to really go for a water test yet, i going to guess it is just the dead algea in the water.
filter 24/7
and backwash 3-4 times a day if its a sand filter, if its earth, your psi will be going up after a few hours of filtering so ull be changing that, or if its a cartridge filter rinse the cartridge off every few hours.
if you have a sand filter pick up some claritabs (pools unlimited sells them in west seneca) and thatll help clean it up faster.
also make sure you keep your chlorine level up
Flock it. It takes all of the particles out of the water. Dont throw 60-70 worth of assorted chemicals at it to fix it (the pool place way) 15-20 buxs of flock(aluminum somthing) and then vacum. after it takes all the stuff out of the water it will look like theres a layer of yogurt on the bottom of the pool make sure you vacuum it to waste not the filter.
It’s a sand filter … sand is new,and i backwash it 3 times a day
as of right now … my chlor level is bouncing from OK to nothing and back
1)Stop chasing your chlorine. it will fluctuate depending on the ph balance and alkalinity. Just make sure your PH and alkalinity are within the proper range.
- Add proper chlorine (re-shock if you really think you need to, but I doubt that it is necessary), and clean the pool as best you can.
Run pool 24 hours. Backwash filter after.
3)Then use this:
They sell it at Leslie Pools. Add to pool, run filter 24 hours.
- Go swimming in clear water  Take a sample to Leslie pools before step 2 if you don’t shock/add excessive chlorine, or take the sample after step 3 and the ultra brite has done its job.
just do as i said, add your regular amounts of chlorine daily
your not getting any sand in the pool right?
ooo and
claritabs>ultrabrite
I’ve tried ultra brite numerous times-never seams to work for me

Good post.
Still waiting for my invite to your pool party full of naked ladies, though. :snky:
hahaha mike… now get back to work!
Why is this in Auto Tech section? heehee
^^^^
Because i felt like putting it here … hows that sound …
so basically i need to take some water somewhere …
Original … I backwash when my psi gets close to 20 … put it on backwash for about 3 min … then shes back down to 12-14 …
and it still reads no chlorine on the strips … but it sure smeels like it
Throw a gallon of bleach in there…
And yes, I am serious…
so ive been told …
but i havent had the free time to stop and get one without HER knowing what i was going to do …

I can do a stealth, middle of the night operation for you…lol
that would be perfect …
if your filter has the option, “rinse” after backwashing.
and if your strips are reading none but your smelling it that means your total chlor level is high but your free chlorine level is low, thats what strips test for, free chlorine. what size pool is it? ull need to shock it to take care of the combined chlorine level imbalance.
oo and, for future reference, a gallon of liquid chlorine=gallon of shock, even tho stores will tell u different. and dont buy chemicals from any places other than pool stores, the do have shelf lives
