you had me at t-shirt weather
My garage is 200sqft - no need for a furnace lol. And those PA heaters do work well, and then you’ll shit yourself when you get your first hydro bill if you work on your car any decent amount of time (Read: 4800 watts lol - I 2.5x’ed my hydro bill using a similar one.)
best & cheapest idea for long term. I think I will put one in when I build a shop; no room in the garage.
wood stove is great, if you don’t have to drive 1/2 an hour to get to your shop, cause it may take awhile… (you can go inside the house and wait)
and you don’t share the shop with someone else who will burn all the wood you split so it fits inside the stove<- yes still bitter
if you plan to use it all day and all night it might not be the right choice but i turn it on 30min to 1 hr before i go in the garage and when its warm in there i turn it off
and it stays warm in there for hrs and if it gets alittle cold i turn it back on for about 10 min at that point im sweating + u can set it so it turns on and off on its own.
wood stoves are good but are messy and need to be vented
the best thing to do is insulate your garage first the temps in my garage got warmer just byadding those flap things to the exterior

dont heat your garage unless your going to heat it constantly… the temperature change from hot to cold will cause things to sweat and then rust… buy a furnace and heat the garage 24/7 or dont heat it at all. Dont believe me look at your tools in the spring theyll have rust on them
lol never had that problem benn doing it for yrs
^+1. Never had a problem with that.
Buy better tools…?
do you keep your tools in a bucket of salt on top of the heater or what
Lol exactly. I’m not going to put a secondary furnace in for my 200 sq ft single garage.
It’s not the hot to cold thats making your (jobmate) tools do that, its the amount of humidity in ur place. Dehumidify, don’t drive cars in covered in snow and let melt everywhere etc etc.
I have one of these in my garage hanging from the roof. Works great. I would recommend 2 of them if you have a double garage/
fuck that… go to marks… buy your self a underwear. you ll be sweating just by standing in your garage jerking off. trust me… thats what outdoor workers wear in winter to keep them self warm…
Wongger - that actually heats a single garage? I almost bought one but figured it wouldnt do shit.
izzo is right though, a thermal is cheaper than any heater lol.
Well I have mine on the ceiling pointed towards the engine bay. It works in the sense that it heats up that area really well. As for heating the entire garage, no. When I do work on the interior I usually just put one of those small industrial heaters aiming at me.
I bought the heater on sale for $35, if you can find it on sale, than its worth it.
i guess this is a bit old but this heater is awesome.

runs for 9 hours on full blast, 20+ on low i think. it gets a two and a half car non insulated cement garage t shirt warm in about 20 minutes on high, then you can just keep it on low or turn it off for a bit.
All these propane heaters are terrible for your health in a garage.
A radiant tube heater would be best or a wood pellet stove with a vent going out of the garage.
