posibly a stupid question

On a kade the fuel injectors have little buttons on them, I assume it is to take them out of the rail, I was looking them today and 1 of the three had it pushed in. So what does this mean and or how do I push it back out or does it matter, ooor does no one know what Im talking about?

I believe what you are referring to as “buttons” are the little metal nubs in the center on top of the injector. As far as I know that is just part of the plunger that regulates the fuel flow at any given time out of the injector. So in other words when the injectors are firing that little rod should be pulsing up and down. To take out the injectors if the fuel rail is NOT in the car and hooked up, there are two slots on either side of the injector. Take the cap off (which I assume you already did if you can see the top of the plunger) put the screws that hold the cap on back in the holes and use them as a leveraging point to GENTLY pry the injectors out of the rail.

Hope this helps.

thanks it does help, but one of my little metal nubs seems to be stuck in. any way of poping it out like the rest?

Hook up the injector and see if it fires… if it doesn’t its hooped and should be replaced.

I’m pretty sure its still working due to the car isn’t running overly ruff as to be only running on 3 cylinders, but it is running slightly shaky. As well, I’ve checked the plungers while car was on they doesn’t seem to move. But I will probably check the fuel rate on all of the injectors this weekend. Any way, I have one more question; if this plunger was to regulate the fuel, it being pressed in would it cause more fuel or less to be pushed through the injector. I’m assuming less.

If that nipple isn’t moving I may be wrong on the fact that it moves at all… in which case it being pushed in as long as it hasn’t caused other damage to the injector shouldn’t effect the amount of fuel it is able to flow.

Thanks
