It’s sick though. I don’t even have to upload my phone book to it, it reads it all wireless. Names and all.
Street pronunciations aren’t that “Microsoft Sam” kind. She says it just like a real human would. The amount of EQ settings this thing has compared to the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 I had it just ridiculous. You can customize every little thing.
Do you really need to watch Family Guy as you’re driving down the road? Really? Do you spend that much time in your car to warrant something like that?
Thats cool as hell, I just can’t justify spending that much money for something like that. I would never use it, lol.
I’m in the IT business. I like technological toys and gadgets.
It’s not something everyone else has. Plus, in the warm months I travel A LOT with a full car of people so for them this is a great thing cause they can watch movies and actually hear stuff instead of being on a laptop where they can’t hear jack cause the road noise.
I used to have an indash dvd player in my work truck. I never really watched the movies, just pretty much listened to them, but it kept me occupied while driving 10-12hrs a day
Updated my post above (post #66) to reflect current setup. I think I finally found a setup I like and will keep for a long time. I might get the new Kenwood 9140 that’s coming out soon, but other than that it’ll stay the same.

What do you guys think about capacitors? Never used one or saw before/after effects of them. Any noticeable improvements?
i have seen improvement in lights. they tend to dim less. it varies greatly from car to car, but overall they are a nice item to have. they help even out the current spikes as your equipment works, especially at higher volumes.
Im my cars the caps have saved the alternators. Before when I never used caps I would go through a couple alternators. For the most part it’s the current spike that will kill the regulator, caps usually smooth out the spikes.
I got it for the piece of mind factor. They aren’t overly expensive so it’s not a bad investment. I paid $70 for the 1.2 farad above. The good thing about this one is it charges once it gets power. Others, I guess, you need a special contraption to charge them for the first time. Mine fired right up.
yes, they help alleviate some of the strain on electrical components such as alternators. my general rule of thumb is 1F/1000watt. that proportion seems to work well and doesnt cost much. if u go higher in wattage you may need to step it up to 1.5-2F/1000 watt, but thats for SPL rigs. a small amp like a single 300watt wont be pulling all that much current, so you dont HAVE TO get a cap, but a 0.5F cap will not hurt the car, so it’s a good idea to cover your ass and get one. theyre very cheap compared to going thru several alternators.
But that’s the nice thing about mine. Connect the + and - and it beeped 10 times, charged up to 9v, the beeping stopped, and then it continued to charge to 12v. Took like a minute and a half.
