bored at the house,
Kapeta: car is lookin pretty hot. With some wheels it’ll be smokin.
Taco: who’d you buy that car from? Looks just like my old one? I sold it to a guy in kitchener. Mileage?
Thanks Ronnie, just need to get motivated to put the 5 lug and wheels on, once that’s done you down for a photoshoot :p?
Ummm, what’s so humble about your opinions? hahahah.
Data aquasition? Are you for real here? You really think that having ridiculously detailed data on what your car is doing will make you faster? Do you even know what to do with that Data? Just how advanced is your suspension? Coilovers, adjustable off the market bars won’t really benefit from having full race data aqauasition.
So say you were to go to Scott at Can-Alignment to have your suspension redone according to what you tell him you are feeling. You then hit the track with your new setup, look at your new data, decide that you know better than him, would you REDO your suspension yourself? Do you not think that you just may be OVERBUILDING and OVERTHINKING this? It isn’t rocket science man.
Get your car setup right once with all your parts…get it done, DRIVE the damn thing. 99% of the time after a car is done, all the shortfalls of the car remain with the driver.
I’m just sayin…I’d be willing to bet $1000.00 that after a good setup, if you were to get data aquasition, you wouldn’t be able to shave any significant times off your lap. Especially with a KA.
Why are you so stubborn that you won’t do a swap? You’re obviously willing to spend GOOD MONEY on your car. Is it so that you can always blame the fact that it’s a KA? Doesn’t make sense man.
You can buy an RB for 1300. The labour is a G. Do it up man. Have some real fun.
Data Aquasition is for fully built serious race cars. Your suspension is more than capable of handling te accel speeds and top speeds of your KA. Lots of Ontario Pro race cars don’t even have that. They use experience and car feel. There are lots of ways to see where your car needs work. Looking at tires is a pretty damn good one. Bigger is not always better man.
lol face palm
Dude, lets not take this place off topic. What’s with all the KA hate on this forum, “omg you must get an SR”.
Scott has a KA and is probably a faster driver than anybody on here period.
All I want to do is improve my driving and know what I am doing with the car. If you think getting data acquisition is dumb then power to you, but I disagree.
Fyi, my suspension is fully built and I am going the other way around, handling and the finer details first, power later.
Whatever floats your boat, I have my way of doing things and I am glad I’ve gone the way I have as opposed to just dropping in an SR because everyone tells me to and its the cool thing to do.
And sorry but uhm… an rb20det is crap, I once considered this and was so fired up about it but an rb25det is the only worthwhile thing… however its added front weight that I do not want. On top of that all these japan motors have hundreds of thousands of miles on them, they are turbo, I dont want to open a can of discussion on it, but I am not interested in spending on something in the short run when I’ll want more power and other things thatll end up costing me more and being more headaches. I am sticking KA until I can fully afford the LS swap. Everything else in the long run will cost more and have more cons than pros in my opinion. You dont like my opinion that’s fine.
Even if people are faster than me in the short term, I rather be slow with my slow ka but be faster in the long term.
Everyones got an opinion, I got mine, you have yours. You may disagree with my method of thinking but, I am doing just fine and I am taking my time as I go.
Yes I have a KA. and i have no problem with sticking with it. If I can keep up with a corvette on track, I am doing just fine with my handy dandy KA and the way I am building my car.
Did I mention SR ANYWHERE?
I’ll agree that SR’s are not the greatest option. They’re overpriced, buzzy, not that bulletproof, did I mention buzzy? Everyone talks about parts availability but 90 percent don’t do internals anyways. .
I’m all for RB series motors. I’m a firm believer in bang for the buck. I run a
n rb20 and that is my motor of choice. Over a 25 right now as well. They rev higher, more bulletproof, cheaper by 1500, can be wayyyyy more fun in my opinion.
Power is nothing without suspension, you now have the suspension, so go swap now.
Stop focusing on one thing I say and try to address all my points. I do my best to address all of yours. I just don’t see how data aquisition will benefit you in any way shape or form at this point. Can you tell me how it will? Seriously? How will it make you faster?
An rb 20 costs 1300. You’ve spent way more than that on other parts. Your car is READY. Its not like I’m saying ignore everything and go for HP. You’ve got everything you need! Suspension, brakes, tires, bracing, what else you waiting for?
I love evrything about it. Its SMOOTH, its got a flat powerband and goddamn, the sound. Everyone who’s heard it creams their pants. I’m grabbing some Tomei cams for 25,600 yen, a 18G or equivalent turbo, some gtr injectors and I’m gonna be at 300whp. Non stressed and insta spooled. I’m aiming for that number and not a lick more. Power is gonna be from the get go. Car will rev to 9300rpm and be bulletproof.
Total cost:
Cams: 25600 yen so like $400
Turbo: 550
Injectors: 100
Clip: 1900
$2950 for 300 solid whp.
And that’s a FUN motor. Driving experience of my car right now is the best I’ve ever had.
Solid chassis with good upgrades and my fave motor setup yet. Its so ridiculously smooth up top. 8300rpm feels like 4000rpm in an SR. The sound. Omg.
Anywaysn point is, your chassis os ready for a swap. Why waste money on data when you can’t even tell me how it’ll make you faster? A swap will def cut your lap times down.
Its all in the way you build the engine…you cant say ones better than the other
I like chicken I like liver, meow mix meow mix please deliver.
^lol i didnt hear that in a long time.
Ronnie: I wanted an RB20 for quite some time, one of the first guys to swap an rb20 on nico from a few years back had me all hyped up when i looked at the cheapness factor. I LOVE inline 6 motors!.. (AND he built his car for track and autox, caged, etc…) but i thought about it… and will hold back that is all. Alot of R32 GTS guys junk these motors when they go for an rb25 or rb26… so yeah they are cheap but… I’ll hold back.
Data acquisition may cost me say another thousand bux but would be a long term investment… don’t underestimate the value of this…in any car… think about the miata guys lol… all momentum NA pooper cars… My car is more or less just that for now… a momentum car (no power)… but meh… Believe me I am CRAVING for more power and bored of the KA… but I’ll patient it out… My biggest craving for data acquisition is to be able to really see the changes made on the car reflected on how I go through the track… as well as changes in driving and how it affects lap times… and not to mention seeing how someone else who is more experienced or has a different driving style would go through the same track in my car so I can compare where my mistakes are or where I can improve… I think it’s very beneficial…
In either case I’d love to get a ride in your car It sounds like alot of fun!
Skylines are pigs compared to s13 coupes. Especially lightened ones. Rb20, lighter, sounds better, revs higher and CHEAPER.
I was all hot for the 25 then did some research, drove rode in a 25 car, decided that 20 is the way for me.
There is NOTHING wrong with sr20’s. I just much prefer the rb20 for reasons listed. Its all about ENJOYMENT factor and when I kick down on the loud pedal. Mmmmmmmm. Music. Especially after today, threw on the dual straight through n1’s and a test pipe. Gooooodddddammmmmmmnnnn.
You two should organize a date to discuss these issues via pm…
Maybe a nice dinner… movie?
after the movie maybe we can fuck in the ass too. right?
if thats what flowts your boat, but let’s stay on topic, piks:D
