powder coating question

if i want to get my calipers powder coated, do i need to remove the seals in them? or can i get them coated without worrying about the heat damaging anything?
thanks

I won’t do them unless the customers removes the seals etc… And reason being is the heat. Heat will make any grease or fluid melt and run etc… And if it runs all over the calipers it will ruin the finish. So by stripping the caliper down 100% you ensure it is 100% degreased and empty of fluid. Also, the outer wiper seal covers up a little piece of the caliper as it sits in a groove/ring. Well that area is always rusty and without removing the seals you have no way of blasting it clean.

So in my opinion, and yes opinions vary… If you want it done right the Seals need to be removed. If your not 100% concerned with having the entire caliper blasted and re-coated or care if their may be an odd flaw due to grease/fluid then leave them in.
