i know when it is cold and you don’t plug your car in, it will have a tough time starting, but when i plugged my car in for work today (8hrs total) it still had a bit of a problem, had to turn over about 4 or 5 times befoe kicking in, is this due to a bad battery?

my cars fan switch only works on the 4 setting, not any of the other ones, plus my car does’nt get all that warm, i let it sit for 20-30 mins idling then have a 30 min drive to work and it is not even warm enough to sit in it with just a sweat shirt, my old car (neon) warmed better then this, i usually had to crack a window cause it was hot. whats going on?
Maybe you Batt is week… Also it could be your motor oil… What kind of oil do you use? Also block heater might not be working/hooked up. As for heat you might have a blocked heater core, bad thermostat, or you coolant valve isn’t fully open. Could be alot.
i am running 5w30
Im guessing the block heater or the cord is shot.
The second problem is an Altima related one, FAN Switch Resistor Pack is gone, $120+ at Nissan for it… Had this one go on me, its one the first gen altimas problems…
is it an easy fix?
I didn’t want to play with the interior (Have a bad habit of breaking clips) so I let Mills handle that one. Not even sure what you have to do for repairs. Let me check my old bill for exact cost.
Update:
So it was Erickson, and the part was Heater Resistor (Part No. 27150-2J000 Resistor) and it took .60 of an Hour to do. Part cost was 49.47 and Labour was 52.80. Total with GST should be: $108.41
Check to see if the Heat Cord is even attached to the Block heater, which probably the case. I’ve never heard of a block heater just not working, as it is a pretty simple device (just a resistor that gives of heat as a by product). However, get your battery/starter/alt checked at Rocky’s battery. They do it for damn cheap or free… Forget which one.
my car doesnt seem to get that hot either, but still warm enough.if i take it to nissan under my warrently, will they be able to fix that? either it be a blocked heater core, bad thermostat, or my coolant valve isn’t fully open?
thats pretty cheap, instead of freezing my ars off in my grage
