Project B16 CRX

b16b is jdm (well i think thats like ek ctr?), but it wouldnt matter since the pistons are shot anyways.

what kind of headgasket do u have… maybe i can buy it off u and then u can get a thinner one for this project

I bought a bunch of parts from a kid just trying to get the stuff out of his garage. I’ll have to get some pix up of the headers and trans!

haha I just bought the one you use to own, 81mm GSR from GoldenEagle

oh lmao, did u buy the whole kit from him?

yea, it was a good deal, he got a even better deal!

J/w, i may have missed it in your other built thread but what did you do with all your old parts that wernt smoked from your boosted gsr build? Also i have an ls cable trans for sale that you might be interested in if you want to save on some more gas…I dont really know what your going for in this build so maby you just wanna keep the b16. LMK!

Im going for a clean and simple DD. I want to practice tuning when that time comes also. PM me on the details of the LS trans.

Project Shrek is still going full bore, and has priority over this build. I basically only bought this engine for the head but then found out the b16 and b18 have different intake manifold bolt patterns. I wanted to keep my Victor-X so I bought another GSR head. That’s when I decided to just start building this. I don’t expect to make any crazy power or anything and if I really cared about MPG I would have just got the D16y8 going.
( Its for sale btw )

well you could shave the head to get it lower, i would recommend you get it atleast cut for a nice true smooth surface

with a 1.6L you will want as much compression as possible to help move it along

i would get some jdm b16 pistons which can be found new for under 200 or used for dirt cheap

pmed…

Whos got some pistons for me? What should I expect for compression with the GSR’s?

hell yea gl with the build bro…

Yea compression and rpms is what gets a b16 moving along.

And shrek you said the pistons that were in there were smoked. How bad, rings too?? I ask because if your doing a rebuild and need to bore the block you are going to need larger pistons to fit. Rebuild procedures usually include boring the block .020 over to give yourself a nice clean slate to work with. You would need 81.5mm pistons then. But at the same time im not sure how deep you really wanted to get into this money wise. And you may be able to get away with just a hone.

I know on one hand why not spend the extra time and money to do it “right” but on the other hand this is just basically for fun and not for performance. All the moneys are going towards Project Shrek. I am going to ball hone this block myself, I just need to find a drill that spins slow enough. The cylinder walls don’t look bad at all compared to what the pistons looked like. I will try getting some pics of them

Shrek is getting a new block so when ever that is up and running again I can start building the old GSR

What do b16 red line at? I may swap in my ITR valve springs if that would help be push the red line up?

8k but dont go nuts, the cams wont make power past it anyway

theres no real point to reving past the redline, you wont make any power like he said lol, theres a huge dropoff

I have the set of ITR and a set of GSR’s cams to play with

most mild n/a builds i’ve seen the limiter was 8500 at the highest

gsr cams are as shitty as b16’s, and itr’s are ok, but if I were you i’d just sell the itr cams and recoup some cash. not worth fucking around w/ the valvetrain etc if ur keeping it as a simple “tuning beater”

According to

http://www.zealautowerks.com/index.html

I should havea 9.09:1 compression ratio

yeah just use the b16 or gsr cams, itr cams on n/a 9:1 = slowwww
