So they’re building a big plaza town center kind of gig along side of Maple? Whereabouts on Maple are they doing this?

The old shooting club on maple
this sounds like an awesome idea, it should definitely improve on business in the area, and definitely a plus to make that vacant field into something useful. Not to mention how horrible maple is to drive on, repaving would be awesome.
Maybe when they re-do Maple they can take out all the speed bumps too… :bloated:

Yeah, but I notice the side streets that lead me to a much smoother Sheridan Drive too. :LOL

this could be good or bad I guess.
im not sure how I feel about there being no greenspace beetween the pepsi center softball fields and this though
I think this will be a great boost for that area. It’s within walking or biking distance for UB students, which will reduce the amount of cars on maple. There are also all those hotels over there, with nothing within walking distance.
i heard a resident on the news say that this area was already developed enough and that’s why they were against it. nimby’s or not-in-my-backyarder’s, as they’re called, are the kind of people that have kept this city down for so long. they’d rather have a lead-polluted brown-field than some extra traffic because of shops and restaurants that are actually bringing people into the area. makes no sense to me.
hopefully they find good tenants to fill these storefronts, that’s my only concern. benderson builds all these nice plazas, but then they sit vacant for years.
I expect to see some stores / restaurants move to this location from another area location, just because it’ll be a destination at least for the first few months. Increased traffic = increased revenue.
I should open a starbucks in one… Or maybe a Tony Walker style fancy fucker clothing store…
Amherst has enough traffic and shops/stores, it’s not like it NEEDS it. Also traffic is already one of the worst areas in Buffalo to try to “drive through” in the evening rush hour. So the “against” people do have a good point. Their real concern I think is the property Value when the once quiet street turns into the new road to “avoid traffic”.
I could care less either way, but like you and others have said, will they get filled?

Good read. detail proposal plan.
lol at people crying about traffic…This would provide jobs and more stores…this is how areas grow and keep people living in a city.
