Most any switch will have an uplink port to connect it to another switch or router.
Ideally, once I get another system built and another laptop, I’ll most likely get a gigabit switch for hard line connections and plug that into my wireless router.

I took a quick look at Newegg and all they had were switches that had ports numbered 1-5+ and nothing noting that it had a uplink port. Or do you just use port 1 for that?
Most switches have an uplink port standard. Some might be automatic and some you might need to flip a toggle switch.
The last 2 ports on the right: The farthest right is the uplink port, the one to the left of that is the standard port. So you have either a 5 port switch or a 4 port switch with an uplink to another switch or router.
And the switch pictured is from Linksys and sells on Newegg or $25.

P.S. Just picked up a Wii the other day. Its fun stuff.
I played with my Wii so much that my arm is sore.
Too bad I just saw this now, I could have hooked you up for the bargain price of free with one…
Post your damn wii code!!!
Ah really? Oh well. Do they work well?
I don’t even know what mine is. I’ll have to check.
I’m really not too impressed with the PS3. The only use I have for it right now is to play Blu-Ray movies. It doesn’t have any must have exclusive titles. The dashboard on the PS3 is not very appealing with it’s black/white interface and inabiltiy to use your own custom backgrounds. On the 360 you have the blade menu’s which is very intuitive and you can customize it with your own backgrounds.
I also wasn’t too happy about paying $652 after tax for the PS3 then having to go out and buy a $50 HDMI cable to hook it up to my TV.
I will say that the PS3 is one sharp looking machine. It has a slot loading disk player and a very cool power on/power off button. I installed YDL Linux for PS3 on it the other day. The novelty of it was pretty cool but not extremely functional. It has no support for the wireless card as of yet and no support for blue tooth keyboard and mice. It also doesn’t have hardware acceleration support on the PS3 under linux so you won’t be able to utilize all that horsepower to stream HD content from your PC. If they ever do utilize hardware acceleration the PS3 could be the ultimate media center component until then (for me) it’s just going to be an inexpensive Blue-Ray player.
IMO if you’re an avid gamer pay the $399 and get the 360. Run some cable and hardwire it and get the HD-DVD addon when you have the money. You can hook the HD-DVD addon to a PC/MAC as well. With GTA and Virtua Fight VI coming to the 360 as the same time as the PS3 I really don’t see the point in getting the PS3 for $700 (tax and hdmi cable.) Also keep in mind if you bought your HDTV more than 2 years ago you might not have an HDMI port to hook your PS3 up to. This would leave you using the old composit inputs that the PS2 used.
I love the hell out of my 360, but man, i gotta admit, the ps3 is starting to look better and better. I tried to get my hands on a Wii today, (which was still sold out everywhere) and all the PS3 displays I saw in the stores looked great. Motorstorm looked awesome, and Lair looked freakin badass. I may have to give in and get a PS3 also. :help: :ham:
Why exactly do you want a PS3? If you already have a 360 the PS3 does have much to offer.
(1) It will eventually (Gran Turismo HD is pretty hot) - 360 didn’t have a must have game until Gears of War
(2) There will be an update in January or February that will allow custom backgrounds…it took a while for PSP to allow that as well.
Please tell me you didn’t buy an HDMI cable at Best Buy or Circuit City.
At Best Buy they were $89+. I went next door to target and got it for $50. I didn’t have the patience to order one online.
Gran Turismo will be a great exclusive title for the PS3. I can’t think of any others.
I was sooo close to getting a PS3 yesterday, if I wasnt so broke, they had 5 of them at the Target by me.
Oh and by the way, as far as I know, Gran Turismo HD is no more. Next stop Gran Turismo 5. Link:
Gran Turismo HD Concept is a downloadable game from the PlayStation Store. I have it right now.
Well I found a rock solid exclusive title for the PS3 but it doesn’t come out until February. We were playing the demo (free download) for a couple of hours last night. Check it out >> http://www.motorstorm.com/en_GB/
Nice to see one of the biggest tech websites and news websites is giving positive reviews of the PS3.

Looks like Sony missed its mark.
^ Sony has sold more than 1.1 million units. That beats the launch for PS1, PS2, XboX and XboX360.
I would venture to take IGN.com’s word for it. The fact that they missed the Japanese target is outright shocking!
