PS3 vs. XBOX360 v.*a number n*

Microsoft Backs HD-DVD as well. That’s big right there.

A guy who writes for Tomshardware.com wrote this about the Blu-Ray tech…

"
HD DVD wins, Blu-ray loses

Much like it is with game systems; competing formats for video are not about the best technology. They are about the most prevalent technology. It is expensive to publish movies and, at least for now, you can’t put Blu-ray and HD DVD disks into the same box.

With the Xbox 360 moving so strongly into the market and the top accessory this year being the $200 HD-DVD drive the battle may be over by year end. There is every chance that there may be as many as ten times more HD DVD players than Blu-ray players in the market by the end of the year - even if you don’t factor in that HP, the current leader in PC sales, started shipping desktop computers with a $100 HD DVD option. This, coupled with a much lower overall cost for the stand alone players as well as better support for legacy TVs and dual mode disks (that have both legacy DVD and HD-DVD content on a single disk), suggests that HD-DVD is now the format to beat.

HD-DVD wins because of the Xbox 360 - which is ironic, given Blu-ray should have won because of the Playstation 3. Instead, Blu-ray has delayed the Playstation 3 to a point where Sony may have to wait until the Playstation 4 to recover.

BetaMax, Mini-Disk, MemoryStick, and now Blu-ray. At least Sony is consistent. Also, if there is one company that is really looking forward to a better 2007 more than Sony I don’t know of it. Boy, when you couple in root kits and battery/camera recalls, you are talking about a really nasty run of bad luck for Sony this year."

Same here, hard line is faster and more stable, but I am curious on the real world speed of some of these new wireless routers( my wireless router is 54 Mbps, but these new ones range from 108 Mbps to 300 Mbps)

.

some things people dont know about the ps3 is that its HD is for 1080p only so if you dont have a 1080p tv then you have to use the basic tv setting whereas the 360 is setup for different levels of hd… also sony will only have a select few video games that are specific for ps3… and the ones they do have like Gran Tourismo… will ahve strong rivals on the 360 like forza motorsports 2… and the 360 will have halo 3 next nov(estimate) which is all im gonna play… IMO the only good thing ps3 has is a blueray dvd player… and who really enjoys movies that much? not to mention a blueray dvd is like $30 and up(waste of $$) from what ive seen…

i think you should buy an xbox 360 w/o a hd dvd player and w/ the money saved you can swing away at golf on the new wii for $250… which is the best system for watching drunks play…

I have been sending my girlfriend out in the cold every day this week to try to get me one while i am at work. So far no luck. Im happy nintendo lived up to the hype.

I have been calling several stores every day and still no luck :(, I just would like one before christmas, thats all

Gamestop in the eastern hills mall said they have the 20gb in stock.I passed up on it though because I had a change of heart about re-selling them.

No, your better off trying to get somthing that goes through the LAN port.

Again, hardline>Wireless for online play.

I’m waiting to see how great my Wii is with online games since its WiFi.

Yeah I would much rather have a hard line connection, but I’d rather not drill anymore holes in my floor.

Is there any reason why this wouldn’t work…?

I buy a second router (not wireless) and run a hardline from my router in my office to my living room into the wired router. Then run ethernet cables to my 360 and PS3?

well i just bought a 360

no complaints here…

plus i bought a lot of shit with it…which i would have not gotten if i bought a PS3

Yeah, but why the second router? Just buy a switch if all you’re looking to do is give yourself more ports.

I dunno. I was not aware of any kind of switch.

Won’t a switch just link things together? I need an Ethernet In as well as out.
