Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Anyone have experience with this?
I ask because I think I had a minior episode today.

Anyone from UBRF might remember the story of the guy attacking my gf of 4 years, and me getting cut with his knife, then taking the knife away and stabbing him.

well the story continued with her cheating on me and leaving me.

Today my brothers gf was over and they were upstairs goofing around. I heard laughing and then i zoned out. I came back to when I hear a scream and then ‘bobby help me’…it sounded just like what Eileen cried out that night… I shot up the stairs and my heart wanted to blow out of my chest. Then my bros gf started laughing and said that my bro was tickling her. I made it two steps down to the basement and i dropped to the floor crying. My body siezed up and I just shook… It only lasted for a min or two but it fucked me up all day. It was debilitating.

I dont think what happened was anything special, but i was wondering if anyone has had a similar exp.

if you cant find a doc call you health ins company and as to speak to a nurse there and see if the can get you to see a doc faster then you calling and making an apt… or they may help alot over the phone

Bob… 2 words: No good. I’d talk to someone brother because something like that is no good. Talk with someone and get the issues out there before something like this causes some serious emotional problems.

Sorry to hear about what happened with the gf in the end. That doesn’t sound good at all about the stress situation, I’d see a doc and let them decide if its post traumatic stress.

:tup: to you for recognizing a potential warning sign. If you can, go talk to a pro (therapist) just to find out what that was, to at least get a little perspective on what that was.

ps… it wasnt a seizure, just scary. thats what i ment when i said my body seized up and i was shaking. i just ment i was ‘shakey’

I have similar problems as well. As some of you guys know, i was involved in a car accident about three years ago, where I hit a semi truck head on. Now, if I’m in a car and I am not driving I get extremly nervous and scared.

well for now… youre seeing it and acknowledging it, but this is only a mild situation, and could get A LOT worse if something else happens… id go get it checked out, cause if something happens and you have a lapse again, and hurt someone, you cant take that back… i dont know you, but im doubting youre the type to hurt someone, but when that hits you cant control it

my friend came back from iraq 4 months ago. we went downtown last weekend and just being in a club with all kinds of people started to tweak him out, if someone got too close to him hed get all sweaty and nervous, he actually tweaked out when one of my boys came up and slapped him on the back to say whats up. he flipped out and ran outside and just sat on the curb rocking back and forth cause it was too much for him… i know he saw some crazy shit over there, but i never expected to ever see him like that…

Def. go see someone about it. May not have been horrible right then, but it could be something that could potentially get bad if not addressed.

Especially since it sounds like it consumed you and you did it all instinctively.

Go talk to someone. Probably nothing, but wouldn’t you rather have a trained psychologist tell you that it’s normal and nothing to worry about than have to wonder if that was a really abnormal event?

Acknowlege the warning sign, go make sure you’ve got your shit straight, feel better, ???, profit.

You’re on a car forum, you know the value of preventative maintenance. If your car makes a ticking noise you don’t ignore it till something breaks. You check it out, fix it if it’s a clicking CV joint, feel better if it’s just normal lifter tick and nothing to worry about.

The story:

I was in my appartment in downtown buffalo (Days Park right at the end of allen near elmwood) and was waiting for the girlfriend to come over so we could grab a drink. She called and was downstairs. There was a locked iron gate at the end and i told her i would be right down to just meet her and go to Hardware. Not two seconds later I hear a scream. I dismiss it at first and then hear another scream followed by ‘Bobby help me!’

My heart stopped and I just ran. I dont know how i didnt fall down the stairs. I opened the door and at the end of the ally on the other side of the gate Eileen was being attached by a guy. I ran at them and grabbed the fence bars with my hand and just threw my body into it and broke it off the hinges. I ran at the guy, threw a punch and then because i have never EVER been in a fight, I went for his legs. I used to wrestle in HS and it was natural for me to just want to take his legs out. He sprawled a little but i got both his legs and drove him into the ground, but not before he yelled ‘youre bleeding motherfucker, what now?!’

I dont think he knew what that would do to me. theres a good quote from a song that kinda describes me "i dont like to fight but i dont mind when i bleed, most dont mess with a guy like me’… It just got me charged up. He went to swing with the knife and i caught the blade in my hand and then just twisted the blade untill he lost his grip on it. He looked really freaked out because (as Eileen told me later) I was smiling.

He let go of the knife and jumped up to run… I took a swing with the knife and stabbed him in his upper sholder and then let him go. It was MAYBE 30 deg out in october and i had no shirt or shoes or socks and I finally had the girl safe. We called 911 and went to the hospital.

The Injuries:
Her: 10 stiches to the top of her wrist… he had the knife to her neck when i punched him i guess and as she pushed the knife away and he fell from her it cut her.

Me: 15-17" gash from my tricep down the side of my body. very shalllow
5 inch cut on my chest, pretty deep, nasty scar
inch cut over my eye, needed 8 stiches

Him: Stab wound to the upper right shoulder, dont know the outcome, they never caught the guy.

ANYWAY… (long post sorry) it was a pretty wild night and honestly it didnt seem all that bad, but i think the combination of that and what happened with her after just kinda gave a nice trigger for something like my little bug out to happen.
