Ive been looking for one of these for a while thats already registered and in nice condition… Well i finally found one in VA, im making plans to go down this friday and hopefully pick it up. Not sure if anybody knows to much about these cars but they are pretty badass little machines, it was nissans attempt at building a rally car… They have they well known sr20det but these are a little different… The motor has a little less compression 8.3:1 instead of the 8.5:1 in ther normal DET. It also has a little bigger turbo garret t28 and bigger injectors to go along with that, 444cc. The coolest part to the gti-r motor to me is that they have quad throttle bodies and solid lifters. Im super excited to go check it out and hopefully buy it, cant go wrong with a 2600lb 4wd turbo hatch. Oh and its RHD:clap
Heres some pictures of the car im looking at
I’ve wanted one of these something bad for the past 3-4 years… Seen a few for sale here and there.
Is it state legal or federally legal? I hope you did your homework as it may not fly up here in new york, but unfortunatly I havent read up much on registering one of these.
yea ive looked into it quite a bit… it actually wont be that hard sense it already has a VA title it will be just like registering an out of state car. Its a pain to make them legal when they get imported which is why ive been waiting to find a already registered one
Correct, but once the title is switched over to NYS they may or may not hassle you about it, althought the nice thing in your case as inspection wont be a problem as its under a 96.
But if the car is not federarly legal, it is very possible you may get a telephone call or a knock on teh door one day and someone saying you need to do so and so with your car.
Althought havent heard much about people getting hassled with the N14’s, i’ve heard of this happening with a few other cars… Silvias, Skylines being the big one etc…
