dude its fucking common since. Why do I need to be called a “vw” engineer simply based on the common since factor that cars arent geared for towing…that make trucks to do that shit.
go to europe… everybody’s car and their brothers have trailer hitches. why would my dad spend 20k+ on a truck when he can do the same with his car… the gears in his car are partiularly LOW. i’ve towed my car(3000lbs) from watervilet to my house with his car, i’ve towed my tdi(2330lbs) from a few miles away home… its got 70k on it and it runs/shifts/rides just as good when it was new.
just cause you DID tow it, doesnt mean its healthy to be done…you guys are missing my point…my fucking quad can tow a trailer with gravel, hell…it can tow a car…is it good for it? hell no. It puts stress on everything because its not made to do that
if the car was made to tow shit, it would come with a tow hitch, and a tow button from the factory.
you dont see advertisements for how much a car can tow on TV do you? and who has the highest weight capacity etc. etc…why? because cars arent made to tow shit…especially a 4 cylinder.

his car is rated to tow 2000Lbs it says in the owners manual, not reccomended but its not forbidden.

my dad is from Poland which is Eastern Europe… thats what he wanted, thats what he’s got… i personally wouldn’t tow with my car but he does.
yea its not reccomended, but it works, and he’s had sucess with it so why would he stop?

trail blazers have a tow option. When you go in to sign the papers, they will ask you if you want a tow hitch for a extra fee…will they do that with a cobalt? fuck no.

Is the Cobalt a Turbo Diesel? fuck no. If the TDI Jetta came with a tow limit, they obviously intended on people towing with it. TDI’s aren’t like the little 4 bangers in you example, a Cobalt, they have torque. Pete’s personal TDI(not his dad’s) put out ~300tq…That’s V8 torque. Like Pete said…Toyota Tacoma 4cyl, Chevy Colorado, Chevy Canyon, Jeep Cherokee/Wrangler, aren’t good for towing because they’re 4cyl though right?

tons of cars can tow. and i doubt the TDi is struggling to tow. tons of torque, stout gear boxes and light weight help out alot.
