I just tried lifting my 300 in some different spots for the front wheels , all of the points I have tried to lift have made cracking noises so I let off, can anyone tell me where I should lift it?
(With that roadside jack , the normal points to jack up have been shot through the unibody and dissapeared by the previous owner-its pretty rusted underneath)
frame rails? or there should be spots right behind your sideskirts. just feel for a fold in the metal. on that fold is where most ppl jack. If not get a shop manual and it should say in the front of it which spots to jack it up from.
If you have a conventional jack you can go for the control arm underneath the wheel itself.
If you’re using a scissor jack, you could probably get away with lifing the front of the car by the engine crossmember underneath the motor, but I wouldn’t get under that without jackstands.
Yup. Control arms are safe to lift on. Sometimes you’ll hear normal noises like the coil springs making noises and such, thats ok. Do NOT, however, lift on your oil pan…
well if you have ever tried lifting a gtr you would learn pretty fast where you can jack.
these are the jack points i use:
-underneith the rad support there is a metal beam, lift the car with a 2x4 on the jack for this one.
-engine cross member
-tow hooks on either side ofthe front
-either of the two cross members in the center of the car
-rear diff
Tow hooks are an “iffy”. It’s not safe to jack up a “round” point, especially one thats on an angle. It’s strong and will hold the weight, but there is a chance of slipping so I don’t recommend it. There are safer, more easier places then the tow hooks.
