and you dont even really have true gaming cards in the quattros. Those are nice cards tho, we use them here for cad and solidworks stuff.

yeah, while the quattros arent made FOR gaming, they sure do one hell of a job. i havent had a reason/chance to use CAD or maya or something along those lines yet but from what ive read/understand these cards pwn all day long with those programs
well, I believe for most 3d modeling programs of that sort, you can run them in opengl and in direct3d. I know 3dsmax does atleast
… and I can assure you, all a Quadro is vs the geeee-wizzz-force stuff is the same card (NV40/45 iirc?) but with ECC on, and by default it’s set for quality/accuracy not outright performance. Drivers/tweaks change that fast, lets just say HL2 at something like 160+FPS in 2560x1600 decent picture quality on an Apple 30" is quite nauseating 
I originally built the box as a combo vid-edit / 3ds max system to try and get back into 3d-anim but soon remembered how much I despise windows (and also got back into the expensive gaming/modding scene, and had to get out, it was hurting the car fund lol).
