Is it dangerous at all to install and torque down suspension components while the car is up on jack stands and everything is “hanging”? I read somewhere that when you torque suspension parts to spec. they should not be unladen and the wheels should be on and pushing against some surface. Right now my Z is on jack stands with the wheels off and I’ve torqued everything to spec. Do I need to buy those little ramps to drive my car up on and then torque everything?
Depends on what you’re tightening. BJ or rubber bushing?
Put a jack under the wheel and crank it up until it jjjjjjjust starts to support that corner of the car and then tighten.
I had to reinstall pretty much everything pertaining to the front suspension setup. I hadn’t thought of using a jack, thanks.
Yes do as Clark says or you’ll shear the rubber joints for certain
Will do, thanks for the help
Just be careful if you jack up on the actual tire…you don’t want that bitch rolling off the jack while you’re under it…safety first!!! Leave the jackstand under the car
Well the front wheels are off so I’m just going to raise from the wheel hub itself.
