Questions about starting a forum Ver. vbulletin

A few truck people i know are looking to start a WNY truck forum. Now, theyre all lookin to go cheap (free forum creators, free webhosting etc.) But i pointed out that the website isnt gonna get much flow if it looks cheap and cheesy. I was wonderin

How much one would pay for vbulletin
How much does it cost to upgrade each time a new release comes out
Whats a good place to go for webhosting?

And most importantly

How hard is vbulletin to use?

Any help woud be greatly appreciated

I really like vB after running a large local forum with it for over a year and setting up a small national forum with it. I find it pretty easy to use and set up. Plus, since you pay for it, there are people who’s job it is to help you out with the software.

$160 is to buy a license, but you can lease one for a year for $85. If you buy it, you can run the software forever, but after a year you don’t get updates. If you lease it, you only can use the software for a year, then you have to renew or remove the software. The license is good for 1 year and includes all upgrades. After that, it is $30 a year to renew which includes all updates.

Tell the guys to come out, meet up, toss in $10 a piece and you’ll be set for vB. For webhosting…shit, there are a million companies out there. Dreamhost isn’t bad but as of late it’s been pretty slow. I think I have a discount for them somewhere if you’re interested in them.

get jeremy for the hosting duh!

110mb.com for your hosting needs. and then just use yabb or something else. vb is way overrated
