Then again, I’ve seen it depts put printers on publicly routable nonfirewalled networks.
Lol…I’ve actually accidentally come across public facing IP printers.
Ok here we go:
- If you’re using XP (I don’t think Vista/7 do have this option), try right-clicking on the printer and choosing “Use Printer Online”
- Is the printer shared of the other computer? Is it shared off a server? To make things easier was the printer added by name or by IP address?
- If the printer is connected via USB and shared from the computer, try unplugging it from the USB port and plugging it back in to a different USB port.
- If you added it by IP address Right-Click the printer and make sure the correct Port (Ports tab) is select it should be “Standard TCP/IP” with the 192.X.X.X. If not switch ports. Also, see if you can get to the management page for the printer…Open your browser, type the address into the address bar and hit enter. If you get to the management page, printer works fine.
- All else fails delete the printer and re-add it. Also check for firmware updates to the printer on the manufacturers site.

From what he said it’s locally attached to another computer I thought, so probably shared via workgroup not IP. Maybe…it’s tough to fully understand a setup if the person is not that tech savvy.

I paid to have it fixed. There were 2 computers fighting over an ip address. Or some techno bs like that. lol (Probably what prog was saying)
How much did that cost?
Usually I pay Synergy $135.00/hour($165/hour for server work). And of of course that includes 1 hour driving each way but, I found a good local guy for the “simple” stuff which saves me a lot. On this last problem I was looking for a fast answer and didn’t want to wait for his call back because it was a ups “end of day” issue.
Interesting I was just curious those rates are about average for Buffalo.
My bookmarks disappeared on my iPad. I try to replace them but nothing appears in bookmarks. ???
Another question; how do you plug a thumb drive into an iPad? Lol (all of my music is on a thumb drive.) can I somehow plug my pod into my pad and load them that way?

Lost bookmarks…I gather you haven’t been sync’ing to a computer or iCloud? Those are probably gone.
Music is sync’ed through iTunes on a computer.
Basically, you need to start syncing to a computer.
I downloaded my purchased songs last night and I did have to click on a cloud icon but what does that have to do with bookmarks?!?
Computers are not a fad but they do piss me off. Seriously wtf? Apple deletes your Internet favorites when you download songs? Yeah that makes perfect sense apple. Thanks!
Apple doesn’t delete bookmarks when you download songs, something else happened. Computers piss me off to, you’re not alone.

So a guy called me yesterday to help me with my windows problems. You know me I will always take free computer help so I did everything he told me. Hopefully my computer will work better now! Side note: he had a thick accent from where I don’t know.
