I have a quick question, I may want to paint my whole car later on depending on stuff, but my front end has 50 000 rock chips and looks horrible, and I want a new rear bumper.
SO my question is, if I repaint my front end, with a rattle can, will this at all affect my future paint job in any way? Will it make it more expnesive because it will be harder for them to strip my paint? Will it make the new paint shittier? Or will it not effect anything at all ??
What about on a BRAND NEW item? Will it be more work for them to take off my ghetto paint, will it look worse because it’s been painted twice or does it make no difference?
It doesn’t matter if you have a brazillion paint chips, rattle canning it will make it look way worst. Use Scratch-X they sell it at CT, it’s a very good product.
talk to your painter about what type of paint you’ll use later, base/clear, acrylic…? and have him reccommend what type of paint to use now so as not to interfere.
the stone chips either need to be filled with spot/finishing putty or teh paint will need to be sanded deep and smooth to remove them
If you want some good quality paint match go to CarQuest…they match it exactly to your paint code and it comes in a spray can. It will look a lot better if you take the bumper off, degrease it, fill the holes with spot putty or whatever, sand, degrease and spray. one can should be good…they’re a little pricey (about $30) but it comes with clear mixed in so it actually looks really good compared to 7 dollar paint cans at canadian tire. It’s pretty much baseclear.
Unless you know someone with a paint gun that won’t kill you with prices I think this is a good cheap solution for you to do until you get your whole car painted. Check it out.
