Can i use an automatic e-prom ecu in a 5 speed car? im going to dsmlink and need an e-prom and i found a deal on one but its from an automatic car. the part number is md165531 and has E-932 on it
no
lol ,
heres a quote straight from dsmlinks site
Does FWD/AWD matter when locating an ECU?
No. Any turbo model DSM EPROM ECU will work identically for purposes of running DSMLink. You do not need to concern yourself with whether the ECU came from AWD, FWD, automatic, or manual transmission car.
so hmm tell me why an auto ecu would matter? the whole thing with the dsmlink is to change the ecu so please tell me why you thought thered be a difference?
whoops sorry, i was thinking of the auto tranny shifting the tranny, i thought it would affect how a 5 speed would run.
but laugh all you want, cause if you would have known this as well you wouldnt have asked. and also i thought you had something that was sooo fast that it could beat anything on here, but yet you still ask questions on here about this stuff.
sorry for the wrong info, but now i know. and if you would have already known you wouldnt have asked. so dont sit there and act like you know what the hell your talking about by copy/pasting from another site…
the fuel trims differ slightly between years/drivetrains but will work
The timing maps are also slightly different.
well i obviusly posted cause i didnt know, but then upon searching i found the info out after i posted( didnt know bout the dsmlink site) n obviously you didnt know for sure either so why would you even post without knowing?
yea i also had that in mind as well, since the injector sizes are diff. from 5 speed to auto and the 90-91 and 92-94 use a slightly diff. cam
but i guess that all makes sense since the link can pretty much adjust all that.
read post above. the 5 speeds and auto use diff. injectors, cams, timing maps and so on. there really nothing in common with eachother. thus why i thought they wouldnt work.
but like i said, now i know. and so do you, so please dont try to come at me like you got something 1 up on me
thats what i wsas thinking but wasnt sure, i know the autos have smaller injectors and what not but the whole reason behind the dsmlink is to change all that but to do so you need an e-prom
yes but how would it manipulate the different cams from the auto to 5 speed?
also when are we goin to race?
the only difference in the cams sam is how far it opens the valves
Ohhhh my DSM penis is bigger than your DSM penis. Who gives a fuck. Why would you even waste your time asking a technical question on Pittspeed?
everyone get along
yes u can use any turbo ecu in any turbo 1g car, i actually liked using the auto in my 5sp car cause it gave me lower timing values that i needed. when ur cars so modded and you have all the ability to compensate with a afc etc. u can tune any ecu to work with your setup. also u can make the 90 work in a 91 and vise versa with a simple 2 wire cross. and yes ive done all these many times.
afc :kekegay:
