Roughly how much does an R-title decrease the value of a vehicle or motorcycle?
It’s an arguable point I think. Someone is going to try and haggle the price of an R Title car, but your car doesn’t have to be wrecked and rebuilt to have an R title. I think it depends on the circumstance on which you can negotiate the price. As far as if it was salvage and rebuilt, I would think maybe 80% of the clean title value? As long as it’s put back together right.
i’m looking at an r-title bike that was in a low speed lay down, and suffered cosmetic damage(bars, mirrors, hard bags, and the right foot peg). nothing structural was damaged on the bike.
It all depends on who you’re talking to… I remember back in '97 when I was selling cars we would treat r-title trade-in as being 1/2 the value of the same car w/o the r-title. During the same period one of the other salesmen totaled his r-title s-10 blazer and received full value from the insurance company and I know of one vehicle which was taken on trade as an r-title and sold at full value…
I sold my old R-Title 4Runner for right around book value. A vehicle’s only worth what someone’s willing to pay. Most likely the only problem you’ll find from an R-Title is someone trying to talk YOU down when its your turn to sell.
I think if there is a loan involved most lenders say 50% max.
ive seen some R Title sell for more then clean title vehicles sell for. How it was rebuilt should determine what it is worth. there are some serious hacks out there when rebuilding however there are some repuable shops that rebuild them properly.
