I have 2 spots for RAM in my laptop…originally they had 2 256 chips in them…i got a 1 gig chip…should i run the 1 1 gig and 1 256…or jsut the 1gig chip…i think i remember reading somewhere that the computer will switch to the slower one or something but i dont remember for sure
i’d use them both, what it does if one chip is faster than the other( not size wise)it will make the faster chip a little slower to match the other one
i remember reading something about not mixing TYPES of ram IE: pc100 / pc133 ect…
pc100 would be the slower ram in that case … but that has little to do with the SIZE of the ram
a gig stick and a 256 stick of the same TYPE of ram shouldnt cause any problem
ehh dont run it, doubt you’ll notice a diff between 1gig and 1.25 gigs
RUN IT … that extra 256 could make the difference between getting to watch porn while you work w/ cad and NOT watching porn while you work w/ the cad program
scary shit mang
Uh, anything somewhat recent does not take pc100 ram sorry.
Its probably DDR SODIMMS, if its really new its DDR2 Sodimm.
Just use both sticks.
ddr2 and ddr are different pin numbers… one won’t fit in the other…
if they both fit in the board shove the fuckers in and see what the bios says
Yes, you can use both in most cases with no issue. Typically manufacturers recommended you put the larger one in slot 1/A.
Just make sure it’s the same type. And it should boot right up.
its ddr2…i have both in now…the larger in slot A…i just didnt want the faster one to be slowed down to 256…that was my main concern
yes but the way I understand it the higher the number the faster the PC can access things…i f i am wrong then i am
It has more accessible memory so yes, more ram = faster speeds. But then again thats not always the case if a program uses alot of the cpu processing power and its a slow cpu, but anywho…
Yes for the most part more ram is the ability to run apps faster.
