Razor Knife Incident

So how deep into the thumb tip before I should consider having a doctor look at it? Was trimming a corner of piece of plywood and it slipped…don’t ask.

Its from the top and went right through the nail, cutting a 3rd of the way into my thumb, just before the end of the nail. Bleeding is controllable.

I’ll say this, the Stanley “Fat Max” blades that came with the new knife are certainly the best cutting I have ever used. I went with the tried and true 99E, usually comes with crappy blades.

If you really want pictures, I’ll take some.

Of course, pictures.

Then again, if you have to ask…you already know. Go to the doctors.

+1, get that shit looked at and make sure you’re up on tetinis(sp?) shot.

edit: tetanus.

I pulled it open a little just for you guys…ok it kinda sorta just a happened when I opened up the “dressing” but otherwise it stays together pretty good.

Sharp knife and some velocity, real clean slice.

go get that shit checked out.

Lol fuck, get to the hospital. How was that even a question?

That makes it look deeper than it is, but fuck I didn’t want to have to deal with the whole ER thing.

If it has already been more than a couple hours there is not much they can do.

One less nail to worry about clipping for a while.

put some super glue so it would stay in place

OUCHHHH

Go to an urgent care they might just glue it together. If you go to the ER you’ll be there all day.

+1 to urgent care. I’ve been to the ER like 3-4 times in the last 5 years for small crap and just wasted a lot of time waiting.

LOL. Nice.

As said, not much they can do given the time lapse. Your body has likely already began the meshing phase where it begins to heal inside out. Still might be worth going in for that tetanus shot though. 8/
Looks like that didn’t hurt given how sharp the blade was, but I’m sure it will be hurting soon if it isn’t now. The Quickie Care place can probably give you pain meds too…if you’re into that sorta thing.

Yeouch! Given the location I’m not seeing how they could have even stitched it. Probably just a matter of keeping off infection now. I’d just keep it gauzed/taped up and clean at this point. Maybe do 5 shots of jack, bite on a broom handle, and pour some peroxide on it.

Your finger is probably going to fall off though, I’m so sorry :frowning:

not totally true, my friends dad sliced his thumb literally in half with a saw, taped it back together and hes still got it… just cant really feel anything though.

I was being facetious  lol

If you want to do some real damage, try these.
