Recommend a wax (search broken)

I used this stuff on half my truck but it takes too long to buff out. Im looking for a wax that doesnt suck but doesnt leave white residue on all non painted parts.

Also, truck is only 5 months old. So it still has a good coat from the factory but I still want to put a coat on before winter.

Assuming you’re shopping OTC locally:

If you can be a little more careful around trim, Collinite 845 locally is fantastic as many here will agree. As long as you dont batter it on it comes off a breeze. Can discolor some plastics but some people report that it doesn’t.

Otherwise the Meguiar’s Ultimate liquid will not discolor anything however will not last nearly as long as Collinite. Its worth noting if the vehicle hasn’t been claybarred, waxes and sealants are that much harder to remove. Spray waxes otherwise usually don’t discolor anything at all…depending on how often you wash your truck, it would take maybe 5 extra minutes as you are drying to get around the vehicle with a spray wax thus allowing you to build protection without applying…waiting…removing… inspecting.

Use some diluted all purpose cleaner and a brush to clean off the white residue next time you wash… don’t let it dry on paint :).

i use insulator wax, works great imo

I’m not huge into detailing, but I’ve been using Eagle One Nanowax for years. It doesn’t leave any white dust/residue at all. And I have cars with textured black bumpers and trim. Last time I looked the regular wax was hard to find for some reason, I went to Advanced/Autozone before I found it at Pep Boys.

Collinite
Duragloss

NXT 2.0 is one of the better off the shelf products. won’t turn trim white either.

I tried the eagle one nano and it didn’t look as good or last as long.

For all of those supporting collinite, where can it be purchased locally?

I am assuming that advanced still carries it…that is where I have gotten it in the past.

overpriced

I’ve used the Collonite 845 shown above for the past 15 years…that stuff is awesome. I receommend a damp applicator pad when appyling it, seems to go down smoother and more even.

fixed.

10 years ago the stuff was even better as I am sure you remember. Little different when the formula had to change by law but still great stuff.

thats weird you guys say that? ive yet to find a product that applies easier, and last longer for a similar price… not to mention its brought out depth in my paint that i never thought it had

Collonite 845 +1

What about a wax for over winter when there’s really not a good opportunity to wax? Couple coats of collonite in the fall? Does wax need a dry time before applying a second or 3rd coat? Can I put a coat on every 24hrs or should it be longer?

u can buy collonite at advance auto. i have never used it but i think im going to try it, i have always used meguiars nxt 2.0

I always had good appearance results with zymol, but it doesn’t last a long time.

I like the z line, but I did a pretty decent test on a lot of customer cars involving a lot of protective products and zaino definitely looks great, looks great for a long time but never in my experience with it did it protect against bird splats or water etch compared to other products. The QD and the soap are nice though.

2 coats for even coverage whenever you are ready to and then maybe a couple weeks down the road a 3rd coat after that “goodbye fall” wash should get you squared away. Collinite is a carnauba synthetic blend and really is solventy enough that if you wanted to, 2 coats back to back is just fine. Collinite 845 is the choice for tons of people for winter protection, simply because its so easy to use and lasts nice and long.

another vote for collonite 845
