Have a look in your owners manual and don’t get anything on that list 3 posts up…its overkill for what you need.
Just get good NOT crazy quality oils that fall within the guidelines of the owners manual and it will be running great.
Theres no reason to be putting super fluids in a car that was a dime a dosen to make. You wont notice the difference. If you do, then your easily tricked by their marketing mumbo-jumbo.
I use Castrol GTX 5W30 for the engine. Prestone or Valvoline Synthetic Dot 3/4 brake fluid for brakes and clutch. Castrol import ATF for the power steering.
Yeah I priced out AMSOil and our dealership’s cost was $16.80 a liter and I would get it at $19.20 or something vs the Toyota bulk ATF that they put in…ALL THEIR CARS, costs me $3.80 a liter…lol.
3 liters of AMS = $57.6
3 Liters of Bulk = $11.4
The girl’s got 250 thou on it, I doubt putting ANYTHING fancy will do me any good. Id rather just change the fluids every year for cheap…lol.
for the engine just go with something average but change it regularly on time or just go by the colour if you’re not working with a good filter. you also may want to check out what the previous owner was using and then make a decision.
tranny - i’d say if you’re going to invest spend it here. you can try redline mt90, mtl, or go with royal purple. i’ve tried all 3 and they’re all pretty close. make sure you get GL4 though as mentioned above.
brakes - this just depends on what you’re doing with the car. seems like it’s pretty much dd so just get motomaster dot 3 and invest your $$ elsewhere, like tranny and diff oil.
clutch - same, moto dot 3
coolant - you can try playing around with your mix ratio but if you go with a lot of water just remember to change it out with more coolant in the mix come winter time. water has a higher specific heat so your cooling capacity will be higher with more water %. i’d say just keep it 50/50 i just use the canadian tire autolab stuff never had an issue.
diff - same as tranny, if you want to spend a bit more on fluids you can invest in something nice here since you probably won’t change it as often as some other fluids anyway. can’t recall if there’s a specific GL rating so just double check on that.
bottomline, completely ignore 240xcsv. he obviously didn’t read that your car is a daily driver.
oh and for capacities of the fluids, download a service manual and have a look through it… it’s all there. this way you’ll remember better next time and also get more in the habit of looking through there hopefully. there’s a lot of info there. good luck.
