Twenty years ago today, the world watched in horror as the space shuttle Challenger exploded in a ball of fire.

:frowning: I remember this.

i remember listening to it in kindergarten :rip:

was in high school

RIP

wasn’t born yet…but still…rip

2nd grade for me… Tradgedy for sure…

i was 9.
I Honered the event by blowing up a model of the challenger.

in my moms belly… dont remember it at all… still sad

man i dont get it. 7(?) people died, all of them knew and accepted the risks of what they were doing. How many thousands of people die each day under tragic circumstances, like that family in florida that lost all of their children in a car accident, 7 children, then the grandfather died out of shock. Thats a good ol’ fashioned tragedy. It just bothers me that this is viewed as a national tragedy but storied of children being raped and tortured doesnt even make anyone flinch. And as far as im concerned dying on a space shuttle is an awesome way to die…

Cause we didn’t spend billions of dollars building shit for those nobodies.

So were only mourning the loss of $?

I’m not mourning anything about that event. I don’t think many people mourn the monitary loss, if any, but the profile of such a program is what makes the event history.
