anyone have the tools (or know what else works) to remove the double DIN radios out of a early 2000s Audi/VW?
You can make em yourself. Do a search in the mk4 forums at www.vwvortex.com, I am sure its been covered there about a billion times.
i used a coathanger cut into 4 sections in my mk3, yours may be diffrent though

or go to autohaus? They gave me a set for free. They had a whole baggie full.

Walmart has em for 2 bucks in the stereo place.
Or you can rig it if you have a metal coathanger with the right guage wire, but the right tool is better.
I removed my single din with the butt end of a pair of jigsaw blades. (2001) But yeah, go grab the DIN tools from somewhere. They’ll be cheap or free.
