removing valve cover

hey
looks easy enough, a few hoses detatched and some bolts removed but that seems too simple.

if anyone could give me some tips to look out for or how to go about removing it before i do this, that would be great.

regards,

Matt

yup thats about it, very easy

remove all the bolts from the top and disconnect the one breather hose…your done.

  • Be careful not to break the bolts

  • Perhaps label spark plugs

  • May need to loosen/remove fuel rail screws to get it out

  • Re-torque bolts to around 7-11 ft. lbs (just snug)

  • Align so the rubber gasket reseals evenly all the way around

  • Double-check everything when you are done

Just a couple basic things…but it is easy.

You will need to remove your engine to remove the valve cover…

you might have to apply some RTV once you remove the valve cover… the gaskets might not seal properly when you put the cover back on…

i had some bolts snap…how big of a problem am I looking at?

Matt

You need an extractor to remove them, then you will need new bolts.

Otherwise your valve cover gasket will probably leak oil.

why do you need to pull the spark plugs?

Yeah I meant to say plug wires:stuck_out_tongue:
