Hello, my name is Andy. im new to the Tuning scene, and while this is not the car i intend to tune, i intend to keep the same model since my mechanic adores them and is willing to work on them. I currently have a 1993 Bonneville SE. Its all bone stock and boring, id love to have a sick sleeper that i can just destroy people in street stuff, i dont plan on doing anything official, i have another hobby(airsoft) that takes a lot of money for me. So heres what id like to do
Bore over. Increase displacement to 4.1 from 3.8
Supercharge, Just the Stage one common on GTPs and SSEI’s
Powerchip or somethign along those lines
I would appreciate peoples assistance, if you know who can do these things, and if you have a similar car or engine, let me know what youve done to acheive good power and how much it cost
Please do not flame me for having such a poor car, im 17 and work at mcdonalds, i cant afford that good of a car…YET.
Lol, dude, dont EVER apologize for your car. Welcome to the board, and I am sure that some people will be more than happy to help or suggest some mods for ya.
 for wanting to start out and mod something, and no that isn’t a bad car esp. for a 17yr. old at McD’s.
If you ever need any assistance, or a wrench turned, I never mind helping out.
Also as far as supercharging, why do you want to go with the same style as GTP stock?? if you are going to spend the $$ wouldn’t you want to spend the extra few $$ to make it better?
i figured with the extra displacement, that supercharger wouldnt put that much strain on everything. I was thinking since stock GTPs are 280 horse, the extra displacement might push her to 320 or more, im purely guessing and since i can get a refurbished GM supercharger for about 400 bucks, it looked like a good deal. like i said, i am really new to tuning and i just had a suspension shackle come OFF today becuase of rust. so i need to fix that
i thought the supercharger was a m62, i cant be sure. what do you eman but pulley down. remember i dont have have anything on this. Its bone stock 3.8 and needs a EGR too
yeah, but if you ran the oem pulley on the stock screw, then you may not get the same boost out it, because you are moving the same cfm’s into a larger chamber, however, are the bonneville and gtp heads the same? i would think that a non gtp oem charger would be worth fitting…
however, as far as what particular blower to use in your application… i couldn’t begin to reccommend… if you want to put a turbo on it, then we can talk…
Nope, but thats what those nutty v8 guys will try to get you to believe. A turbo is better in almost every single application, in that t is more efficient/adds mre power, but do what you want. I think a blower would be better in your application because of the whole installaton/ fabrication thing.
Newman, I might be trying to talk to you soon about an upcoming turbo project.
ok 93 bonni’s still have the series 1 3.8 with the M62. There are many options that you can do depending on your cash flow. I would get a used L67 (series II 3.8) or L32 (series III 3.8) motor. The L67 has a GEN III M90 and the L32 has the GEN V M90. Swap that in and have 240hp (L67) or 260hp (L32) right away. Now if you want to make some serious power get a L32 short block, heads, and do your own turbo kit. Then watch as you pwn you tranny while you make 500+ hp all day long. A stock L67 short block has ran in the 9’s@140+
go to www.clubgp.com
or http://www.l67swap.com/
for tons of info and help on this subject. Remeber though, once you start making good power your tranny will take a shit.
Also www.unycgp.com is the local group of regals, gtp’s, bonni’s
I went with a small cam, IC set up and kept my M90 and have put down 273whp.
I have a 160 dollar a week job right now and im currently paying my parents off the 2k debt i have to them so this wont start happening until at least april
