I used to be on this site all the time. I ended up selling my 240sx(92) due to never ending engine problems and rust I miss the car though. I’m thinking of getting one again, eventually. Either way, I ended up getting this Acura EL. Car is reliable as hell, figured I’ll post pics of those who remember me still
These are some pics I took before repainting the whole car a new colour. Parts of the car such as the rear quarter panels and bumpers were painted by me, and so was the front lip and sides. I just did it for fun at first in my own garage, to get some painting experience so I kept it the same colour, but when I liked the finished product, I decided to do the whole thing.
When I first got this car, it started off looking like this:
Not the greatest car you’ll see, but can’t complain when you’re a student and have a part time job using this car as a daily driver paying for all the bills
Update: 09/19/06
Found these pics uploaded on my comp but looks like I never added uploaded them on the server:
Car will be put in paint next week monday. I’ll have pics up as hopefully with progress pics and the final result. It depends on how fast my bodyshop works(yeah, I’m not doing it this time…got a really good deal, plus I have school to worry about  )
The problem is I have thicker tires in the rear than the front. The fron tires had a glass in them, and I only had cash for two. I’m replacing the rears soon, with thinner profile tires…
Front 195/55/15
Rear: 195/65/15
I’m looking into a 205/50/15 set, most likely falken 615’s
car looks pretty good, other than the dude bro drop.
but like you said ur gonna fix that issue. is that a new el steering wheel? or is that a acura rsx steering wheel?
nice domani fogs. very rare.
any pics of ur old 240sx? i think ur sig was a red coupe before. never seen it in person before.
Damn, you got a great memory. Yeah, that red coupe wasn’t mine, I wish. It was a feature on teamrice.org and it was an inspiration car. It had 16" Gab wheels with a Silvia front end, and that’s what I wanted. Unfortunately, no pics, since I had a computer virus and all my pics were on there. It was a bone stock 93 S13 w/ the front lip off a pignose 240. I also polished the OEM rims and it was spoilerless. That’s about it, I only had it for a few months because I was constantly fixing it until it ran me dry of cash.
Yeah, that’s the RSX-S steering wheel, good eye. Domani fogs as well, how’d you know? I’m like 1 of the 3 people in this country with those, everyone sports the crappy replicas which produce a white glow.
As for the drop, I raised the front end to match the rear because it was bugging me, I just slammed her down all the way for pics. I’m planning on selling these wheels and going with either a 5 bolt conversion or grab some JDM rims of some sort. Rota’s are overdone, every Honda owner wants/has em, so I’m staying away from that, I’ll be on the look out for something rare. I recently though of polishing my turtles(OEM rims) and driving those for now. It has the regular tire size, so it won’t sit retardedly. I’ll post more pics once I get my my new paintjob and cf trunk. I had an accident and the rear was hit, so everything is getting replaced and painted.
Thanks, Yeah I’m thinking of coming back and posting more often, I dropped by the west side meet two weeks ago since it’s literally 2 minutes from my house. It’s always nice to see modded 240’s since they are becoming so rare no a days. My heart still lies w/ the 240…
btw, I remember when you first joined here altima boy…
Spilner…do you still have the red car with the black rims?
Update: I just got in an accident today, the front fender and headlight as well and the bumper got smoked by a woman who cut me off on my way to school. Luckily she admited it was her fault, and she’s willing to pay for the damaged. Good thing I didn’t paint the car yet :S
Nice EL btw… but the how the hell do you go from a nice rws coupe to a fwd sedan and not be pissed off?
Btw, 240’s can be just as reliable as any honda out there… I know a few guys who have no problems with their 240… including myself. You just have to pick one in decent condition.
Very simple, CTR suspension. I have a 26mm sway bar up front and a 22mm sway bar in the back with coilovers that are 600lbs and 800lbs front/rear(full set, because now a days u can get those “coilovers” that only come with springs).
although I miss the 240 very much, the oversteer was awesome, I semi got it back with the sway bars in the car. Although yeah, it doens’t come close, it still sticks to the ground and compared to my stock sx, this car outhandles it. Once I get the falkens, I will more than likely hit 1g on the skid pad.
I know they can be reliable, but I bought this car for an amazingly great price. The one I had, I thought would be in good condition, but no. I was gonna do the typical SR20DET swap as well, but then decided not to, and give this car a try. Not to mention insurance was a lot cheaper on this bad boy since it’s a 4 door. I dunno something made me want to get it, and I just don’t regret it since I did. All it needs is a good motor swap and she’s track ready, and would be a good match for some of the 240’s ou there.
I’m also surprised that your insurance is cheaper on the EL. I know it’s a sedan, but it’s still an Acura and they don’t have the greatest insurance rating because of the theft rate. It falls in the same category as a Honda basically.
Just to give you an example, when I did a quote for my 95 240, I got 140 bucks a month… when I did the same quote with a 96 honda civic hatchback, I got 163/month… and a 97 BMW 325is or a 93 300zx TT was only 185. This is basically full insurance, not just liability.
But insurance rates differ drastically from driver to driver… it’s not only the car that matters.
In any case, you did some suspension work on it, which is always a good start
edit: thank god you didn’t use coilover sleeves… those are horrible, since they use your stock shocks… i.e. you would be bouncing all over the place…
Well, when I called my broker and spoke to her, she told me the 240 was a sports coupe, but this car is more of a family sedan, plus it comes with the factory alarm, so generally they are lower. She also said something along the lines of since it’s not that popular of a car(it’s a Canada only vehicle) the car doesn’t have as high a theft rate as the 240sx does, since their stats are taken from all of north america. Either way, the 240sx was about 285/mnth, the acura is costing me 210/mnth, I’m 20, and I got the university discount.
As for suspension, yeah I’m so anal, I hate those sleeves. People with them piss me off, you don’t understand. And when I tell people I have coilovers, they try to tell me their car is better since they have regular springs  I believe that suspension is key when modding a car, it’s the first thing that should get done(along with brakes) before any engine upgrade. The car handles amazingly, I really wanna get a motorswap/boost the current motor so I can track her with some of you guys next year and show you it’s not far from 240sx performance(unless the cars are heavily modded :S).
LoL, it’s true, all my buddys are rocking the eagle.
welcome to the civic nation, everyone with a honda thinks their car is the best and fastest, but ull notice its always some guy with slow, stock lowered honda that thinks hes fast that’ll pull up beside and try race or some homo in a vdub
thats about all you have to know about the civic nation, been there done that, and im happy i turned my civic into my winterbeater also word of advise dont put a exhaust on that car unless you want new friends that give you yellow papers that a side sweet car though one my friends has a 99 el nice cars
