I would have hit him for sure if I would have walked outside to see someone doing that to my car. I wouldn’t have taken a video and acted like an asshat though. Like previously mentioned it’s either one or the other. Instead of hurrying up and going somewhere to see if he could have got it off he sat there and took a stupid video which can bite him in the ass down the road.
I’d just grab a plate # and call the cops.
I would NEVER walk up to someone doing that shit. No matter how confident I am in myself, he can just pull out a gun and it’s game over for me. What are my options then? Turn my back and walk away? Maybe he’ll shoot me a few times in the back and I’ll survive as a vegetable. Maybe I can dry to disarm him, and end up getting myself shot in the process. Maybe his gun isn’t even loaded but I can’t tell. Maybe his gun will jam.
Or maybe I can just stay the fuck away for a minute, get a description of the dude, his plate, call 911 and deal with it. I see no reason to risk your life over getting your car vandalized. Before anyone asks, yes my car was broken in to only once in my life. It was about 3 months after I moved in to my apartment TWO houses down from my parents. My car was parked literally 10 feet from where I slept at night… Probably less. I came out in the morning, went to sit down and was like… DAYYUMMM MY CAR IS A FUCKIN MESS, I’m a pig!!.. Then I slowly realized what happened. Was in Lancaster… Never heard of a burglary in the area before then. Sucked. But no reason at all for me to go running out there. I lost maybe a couple hundred bucks worth of stuff? Sure if I saw him I would’ve called the police, maybe locked him in the car if he had the door closed, set the panic button off… But I wouldn’t have left my apartment.
Did I get hurt? Did my family get hurt? No.
Can what ever was lost be regained? Sure.

I’d totally shoot someone if they broke in to my house while I’m home though. I’m backed in to a corner anywhere I go except for escaping out a window. Same reasoning, I don’t know if they have a gun. Although if it was being robbed when I got home, I would just get plate numbers and call the cops then drive down the street and watch. No need to even get out of the car.

Completely agree, rational thought would be out the window. I flipped out when I saw some mouth breather let a grocery cart roll after letting it go and it hit my car and broke the tail lens. Stood there and watched it… Not impressed, and we had words.
Maybe it’s because I value my well being more than my car.
If he’s got a tool box next to the car taking the car apart piece by piece and loading it in to a van, then I might do something. Like maybe roll away his toolbox while he’s not looking and leave my car. Although I’m not actually sure what I’d do with the toolbox then. It’s not worth getting hurt over. Like look at this kid, he’s going to be in and out of court for some time now. Maybe he’ll get his ass handed to him in court for what he did to the old man. Is that so much better than being out a thousand bucks? I’d rather spend 40hrs at work to make the extra money back to pay for it, then spend 80+ dealing with court and missing work.
So what would you guys do? You walk up to the guy and he pulls out a knife or gun? What then? Are you 100% confident you’re badass enough to disarm him? maybe you do disarm him then you think you’re the shit and get distracted… Then he pulls out another gun and shoots you. It’s an absolute lose lose situation. The damage to your car is already done, so why do YOU personally need to risk getting hurt. I understand the majority of vandals don’t walk around with a knife or gun, but some do. It happens, not worth it to me. If you lay your hands on the guy, chances are he’s going to sue you. Chances are a lawyer will take up his case.
Don’t park next to cart corrals then. 
You would think parking next to one would be better, because people would be so close they just can push it back in… But people launch the carts towards it most of the time. Usually they miss.
I always ate lunch in my car at wally world so I saw things… It happens more than you think. A LOT more than you think.
