REVIEW: Borders Express Drop Shipping

First off let me say this was a present to a good friend who recently moved just outside of las vegas.

I went into borders express december 13th to do some xmas shopping at the blvd mall. i was there anyone to see someone else, so me and the girl decided to look around a bit. i go into borders express, right by the food court, and start browsing.

i happen to find a couple books to give as gifts for family members, and found one i could not pass up giving to my friend. now, shipping to las vegas is not cheap, and i really didnt want to more than double the cost of the present. so i asked the lady up front if they offer a drop shipping service where i dont have to pay for shipping. they do, perfect.

so, i spend a few minutes on the phone, getting the correct address. while i’m doing this, a more of a heavy set women who is an employee there comes in to work, im assuming back from break, and the other lady explains to me that she will take care of me with my drop shipping order, she has to leave for a bit. thats fine.

i get all the info i need, and go back to the counter. other lady is gone, fat lady is taking care of me. OF COURSE, this HAD to be her FIRST FUCKING time doing this kind of order. she gets almost all the way done, and there is a line forming at the checkout of about 2 people. i say go ahead and take care of them, im in no real hurry.

FUCKING MISTAKE RIGHT THERE

little did i know that by saying take care of them, i was really saying “ignore me until the line is gone”. i was standing there for i think about 40 minutes waiting for her. i would have left, but she had all my info, all my friends info, and half of my CC filled in on her screen. i even jumped back in line, thinking it might help, and when i got to her, she said “i’ll be right with you sir”

i couldnt believe it. I work in retail and im pretty understanding when it comes to things like this, especially during xmas, but i was getting pretty heated.

FINALLY she comes back to me, finishes my order, and rings me out. i didnt notice at the time, but i never got a reciept. i cash out for the books im actually buying, and finally get out of the store.

so i ordered the book on december 13th. my store had a cut off date closer to the 20th for orders garunteed by xmas. i figured im good, he’ll have it before xmas. the nice lady before the fat bitch told me it could take up to 10 days for delivery. more than enough time, i though. we say the same thing at my store and it normally shows up earlier.

now my friend was leaving to go see family on the 22nd. he told me the 23rd it hadnt shown up yet. o well, it will be there when u get home.

28th. nothing

29th. i call up the store. they give me the order/reciept number, and a 888 number to call (what great customer serivce, i might add :uhh: ). i call up, the lady tells me that with it being xmas, it might still be in the mail. call back after the 1st if it hasnt shown up yet.

sigh

1st comes and goes, nothing

2nd comes and goes, i forget to call.

3rd comes, no package yet. i call up. they are reshipping it 3 day air. they way they are gonna process it is they are gonna return my original purchase, then resubmit it. thats fine, as long as it gets there now.

it finally ships something like the 9th, or at least that is when THE FUCKING CHARGE SHOWS UP ON MY CC AGAIN.

Friend has the book now. i think all is well.

fast forward to today. im checking over the statement, and see this for back in december.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK

no credits on my account, and they charged me tax on an item that is shipping out of state. In NY state, when u ship an item out of state, there is no tax on the item.

so i call up that lovely 800 number again, and procede to be very stern but polite asking what is going on.

i get a reponse that the refund hasnt gone through yet, and that it should post in a few days. and that they have to charge me tax on anything bought, and that the original purchase was screwed up, they should have charged me tax. i politely inform her that she is wrong, and why, she continues her useless droning. i say if i dont see that full amount returned to me by friday i am disputing the charge.

that is basically where the conversation ends.

the whole point of this is to let everyone know what a terrible experience i had with borders express, and to warn everyone about shopping there. their customer serivce is horrible, they dont know whats going on, they blame the absence of refund credits on the xmas season, etc, etc.

i will not be a patron of borders or borders express again.

Borders. lol. What are with these terrible kiosk things that replaced Walden Books?

You know, when Borders first considered coming to the Buffalo area they had a huge reservation regarding our intellectual capacity to support their business. Now they’re playing catch up to B&N. :shrug:

word. it was kinda a “wow, i wasnt to get him anything, but this would be awesome” thing.
