Just went to empire yesterday for lunch from work. Nice place, Nick knows what he is doing (same owner of Toro and Fahertys on Elmwood). The menu looked great, but our server kinda sucked (brought the wrong soup, seemed flustered etc). The food was good, but each item that got was missing something, as if the chef was in a hurry or forgetful. Perhaps just working out the kinks of a new restaurant.
Most lunch items were $6-11, while most dinner entrees that I saw were $12-25. Its not a super high end place, and isn’t intended to be such, perhaps explaining the ikea-esque modern yet somewhat cheapish decor. I definitely want to go back and check it out for dinner.
You must not get out much. There are plenty of buildings/restaurants in Buffalo that are far nicer than that.
Bashar. Its a cool building and would be great if they build it, but they arent breaking ground until 40% of it is leased, so I’m not going to hold my breath until that happens.
Buffalo is a great city and I have always been an advocate of living here, but the one thing I have learned is not to get excited over grand plans which may never come to fruition.
I bet 40% is leased within 6 months. I think they are close to 20% already.
Class A office space in buffalo is hard to find, vacancy rates are in the single digits. The Larkin Exchange building is nearly full already, and everyone said that place would never get a tenant.
Good man. You speak well of the city here. It’s nice to hear something like this for a change. Too many others don’t realize how many great things we have here.
On topic: I’d def. like to check this place out. Maybe I will tonight…
I’m going to be checking it out this Thursday or Friday with the wife.
I have heard good things about it from a lot of people. And it looks like a very cool place from the pics.
There are a lot of cool places popping up or finally getting exposure in Buffalo. My wife and I have been trying to hit different places at least every week or 2.
one of my professors is from seneca development, 1.2 mil sq ft!! geez
i think the cannon project is great. we can only gain. requesting no public money, worldwide company, scale of the building increases the viable-downtown theme, etc. mmm tax revenue
i heard word a few weeks ago about a high rise going where pier 1 is… whats good with that?
i went for my birthday and it absolutely sucked. ordered our dirnks within 3-4 minutes of sitting down. they come 3-4 minutes later. waitress comes over about 10 minutes later we order food. Did not get any delicious bread snack like we were supposed to. so we sit there drinking and yapping while waiting for the food 20 minutes later. I had the Penne with chicken which was very good and the G/F had the ribs which sucked almighty ass. They were burned to a crisp and pretty solid. By the time the waitress was anywhere our tbale enough to tell her about the ribs ( read she sucks at her job and doens’t check up on people) my g/f wasn’t hungry anymore. cliffs my food was good, her food sucked, and the service was absolutely retchid.
