Unhappy I went down… hard
well the accident happened the 1st of October. Kept me in the hospital for a week. Have finally been up and around (mostly to use the bathroom, get cleaned up etc.)
anywho, me and my friend Vlad were traveling to the bank, then just to cruise around. I was in front of him about 30 feet, just came out of a school zone. I noticed as I passed underneath a light that it was yellow/red. He didnt know where the bank was, so I knew I was going to have to slow down and let him catch up. I spot a state trooper on the other side in oncoming traffic, check my speed, 27mph. I had been having hand cramps for ever in my left hand, so I put the bike into neutral and just let it coast. Thats when it happened. At the time I didn’t know what surface I went over, but after the accident I went to where I wrecked, and there was a wide crack / heave in the pavement. My front tire must have caught it, threw it through the groove, and I tried to blip the throttle, remember that it was in neutral, and simply said. “oh ****.”
Bike and me went down on the right side, I pretty much slid on my knee/ankle/forearm/palm. I slid into a parked car, my legs hit the cars rear tire, spun me around, and my head hit the front tire. I never lost consciousness, and saw the front tire coming. I thought right then and there that my life was over, I was going to snap my damned neck. I must have tightened every single muscle in my body up, waiting for impact.
After I hit the cars front tire, my momentum stopped, and I began almost a self test, making sure everything was there (wiggling fingers, moving my arms…etc) out of the corner of my eye I saw this dark blur coming at me fast, then tires screeching, “great, I survive the crash, get nailed by a car” was the only thing I could think of. Come to find out, it was the state trooper, who saw everything. I was on the leg portion of the self check and noticed that the back of my shoe was touching the back of my knee. **** I thought, Im done. The cop got out of the car and i yelled (more like pleaded) for him to call 911 and get an ambulance. He responded he already did.
About that time my friend vlad, who also saw everything, walks up, and the look of fear in his eyes I have never seen. He asks what he can do, and I ask him to go get my bike, which is about 250 feet down the road (yes, that far). Come to find out, when your bike is only sliding on the delrin sliders, it has no friction and goes very very very far.
to wrap this story up, emt’s get there, and then I find out from their murmuring that it is indeed an Open tib/fib fracture, and that now I’m a trauma one case. Went into surgery that night, titanium rod and 4 screws later and im stuck in a bed for a week, doing PT and all that. I am out of work for at least 6-8 months, and its going to be a year minimum before I can walk without a limp and make a full recovery, if I ever do.
Jesus dude well atleast your alive…what kind of bike were you on…and do you plan on riding ever again
06 600rr.
and yes… If i can get that movement back in my foot
dam…do they think you will be 100% again
too soon to tell
Well man i hope it dose i know what its like to not ride…I feel at 50 and just got MINOR road rash…Its weird how that shit happens
WOW I didn’t even know this happened till tonight I hope everythings alright and ill see you out riding again next year
this makes me wana not get a bike as much as i wana get one, if that makes sense? :lol
You just gotta way out the good and the bad and decide if you wanna take the chance
i have been weighing. its like a 49/51 split towards gettin the bike
pros:
-acceleration
-handling
-faster than any car (within reason)
-gas mileage
-sweet looking gear
-doesn’t need it’s own garage (garage space is at a premium)
-panty dropper
cons:
-I’d probably die
no bike for me.
Hey atleast you know your limits…no panties droping for you :banana :lmao
get the bike… you will love it
as long as your not a maniac on the bike your not going to die, but i can see that most of us would be tempted to push the limits :mwahaha
It’s not my actions I’m worried about, it’s other people on the road.
Oh man all the stories about that. I know a bunch of riders that ride around with marbles or paintballs or nails in their pockets. If somebody really really pisses them off they unleash them at speed with quite disasterous and amusing effects (to the driver and the rider respectively)
yea nails in your pocket i bet that will feel great if you wip out
:crackup thats such a good idea, id do that if i had a bike
Sounds like the Sega Gensis game “Road Rash”
That game was awesome, the chain was key in that game!
