I have been reading more and more about leather pants which I personally do not find comfortable and too hot to ride in.
I am thinking I want something more protective than Express jeans. What are the alternatives to leather pants that can be easily worn over clothes for my daily commutes?
Perforated stuff isn’t too bad. but like Will said, when your are just cruising around, not getting too hard on it, jeans is all most people will wear.
ya ideally if i was going to crash, i would want to be wrapped in leather but i am thinking about the night rides that end up stopping somewhere and looking at something i can wear in public that is comfortable to wear off the bike too and provides a bit more protection than jeans alone.
someone on sportbikes.net had a good saying, wear what you typically would wear when riding and run full speed and dive onto the side walk and see what hurts.
that analogy makes me thing of falling on skates in jeans and knowing that pain.
also, do you guys just wear sneakers or do you have riding boots for normal daily and highway riding?
Think back to when you were a kid, you fall off the bicycle in jeans and what happenes, whatever part of the jeans that hit the road rip and you ride home bleeding from the knees.
i wear nylon overpants that are waterproof. I just take them off when i get to where I want to go. If I can’t take them off they dont look too goofy either.
yeah, nike hightops won’t do shit, but if it makes you feel better, great. like, seriously, the fact that they are high top as opposed to regular height is very close to irrelevant.
i bought alpinestar smx4 boots this year and don’t ride without them. i rode with regular steel toe boots last year and i feel much safer with the a*
um anything helps actually… and yes if you go down and you have lets say skate shoes on. your ankle is gunna be the first thing to feel the pavement. so yes it is relevant
