Riding?!?

Hey this might seem a little redundant for this forum, but i’m new to the area and looking for a place to ride. i live in shaler and would like to be able to go ride somewhere half way close. i ride a yfz450, and want to trail ride and do some hill climbing. maybe something out towards new ken or north or something? i’m originally from johnstown, so i’m used to being able to ride 80 miles in a day and never touch the same trail twice. any idea on where to go for a day? does anybody ride on a regular basis that i can tag along sometime or maybe some organized rides/poker runs?

If you are from shaler… maybe check out the woods in Ohio Township

My in-laws live north of you on 28. I’ve ridden there a few times. Good amount trails around Tarentum/Natrona Heights/etc.

I ride but im a little far from you

cool i’ll have to check it out…anywhere i should know about that i should definitely not go? runnin from the game wardens and cops is fun and all, but it gets old real fast when u get chased out of the woods every time…

munster, u guys ride out homer city or delmont anywhere? i’m trying to get the nanty glo crew and lee to ride this weekend and run their loop. its been a while since ive been on a good nanty glo bar run!!

i’ve been thinking there has to be some riding out towards tarentum but did some exploring and didn’t find anything while i was just quickly looking…i’m sure there is some riding out there, but haven’t found the little pull off anywhere…

its getting old going to johnstown all the time to ride…even tho my quad is still at lee’s shop…but he’s lazy anymore and we’re only riding about once a month…ive got too much money in that quad to let it sit all the time

LOL … you sound like me a year ago! … This was my other money pit … I finally just gave in and sold it since I never rode anymore

I ride at Tide in Homer City once in a while. If I knew someone was there to ride with I’d be there alot more.

I don’t know where the parking areas are to ride around Tarentum. We always just ride trails from the in-laws.

A few of us are riding Lilly’s poker run on Sunday, btw.

Can anyone provide some more insight on where these places are? I just bought a dual sport and want to do some riding but don’t know where to go. I am from Allison Park…just north of Shaler/Hampton.

haha mike…by the looks of your tires you had a little too much fun on the road with that quad!!! awesome machine tho, mine isn’t that done up, its a woods machine so i kept my lights and have bigger tires w/beadlocks. nice shocks too…works?..i might have to get me a set of them…

LOL. That quad had a lot of fun on the street! Those tires don’t last super long doing burnouts though. The shocks are PEP Tripple Rates w/ remote rezzies.

Yup

*> Works

I am actually right about to order a set of Elkas for my Rhino, im just not sure if I want get the regular ones w/ piggy rezzis or the Elites. My buddy just ordered the regular ones, they should be in this week. Im going to take his for a spin then order mine. The Elites are almost double

Mark
Its crazy how they jump so high in price! I had around 1k in just shocks on my quad not including a-arms/axle/swingarm etc.

Your buggy ought to have decent suspension now I would guess … But would be AWESOME with aftermarket.

I don’t know the roads around there. I want to say that the one we ride down to access the area above the cliffs on 28 is Saxonburg Rd. We start from Natrona Heights behind the new WalMart. My brother in law said that some of the area was just recently fenced, but I don’t know where.

The cliffs are on the same side of 28 as The Mills.

Yeah… the regular Elkas are like $1700 for all 4, the Elites are something like $3200!

WOW! I didn’t realize they were that much! Well I guess having 4 dosnt help ethier! I think I payed around $1200 for my PEPs

if your on 28 before the new mall headed north, theres trails on the left. i think its almost directly across from the cheswick exit…

ill ask my lil brother if you can still ride out there due to construction…

all of our riding places got shut down, its been forever. theres a nice trail up in kittaning at the camp grounds.

You anywhere near Slippery Rock. This place is decent and they try to have a lot of different things to do. I have been there quite a few times and I wouldnt say the track is awesome by all means…but it is a decent place to ride to have a little fun.

Thanks for the good suggestions everyone

Hey thanks guys…this helps a bit…seems to be the general concensus that everything is being shut down…damn treehuggers are a pain in the ass!!!

i’ll take a ride out around tarentum this w/e and see what i can find…if i find anything of interest ill post up some locations…there’s gotta be a few places left to get into…maybe i’ll take my mountain bike and see where some trails go before i chance it on the quad…thanx
