LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dave Matthews Band saxophone player LeRoi Moore, one of the group’s founding members and a key part of its eclectic jazz-infused sound, died Tuesday from sudden complications stemming from injuries he sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident in June. He was 46.
I’m not sure if there are many fellow DMB fans on here. LeRoi was one of the best saxophone/woodwind players I have ever had the opportunity to see play. 46 is just way too young
I always thought he would die from asphyxiation due to an elongated jam session… Guess I shoulda held my breath… lmao get it… hold my breath… a woodwind player… karma… anyone … plz
hey thats cool, to each their own. Those that have seen them live can agree I’m sure, this guy was amazingly talented.
newman- only other names that come to mind that Ive actually seen live are Dave Schiavone and Sam Skamaka(sp?), other than that, just the woodwind sections integrated into a few different orchestra shows i’ve had the displeasure of sitting through. LeRoi was by far my favorite, though.
actually he is well known around the world outside of DMB for his woodwind skills. It is one thing to hate the genre of music, but to say they are all not talented is just stupid. Watch a live show and then tell me they are not incredible musicians.
well they have Rashawn Ross who used to be in Robert Randolph, but they have been using jeef Coffin from Bela Fleck to fill in for LeRoi since the accident
