RIP: Nexus One

With the eyes of the technology world squarely on Apple’s iPhone 4, Google quietly announced it will stop selling the Nexus One, its first and possibly only foray into the smartphone world.

Meh…was a decent phone…nothing special with the Incredible, EVO, and Droid X out.

the only phone left that actually runs completely stock android and is fully unlocked to allow ROM and App development. A little saddening for the dev nerds, but it won’t really be missed.

Problem with HTC and Moto doing the upgrade they slack behind the official point releases, that is one of my huge gripes with Android market… fragmentation and reliance on the vendor to give you the OS upgrades.

Most people want the new and shinny and want it yesterday.

And the N1 was ahead of its time, it is almost a spot on match to the Incredible spec wise.

This is true. I’d rather have OTA updates than be forced to download the latest version of iTunes (~95MB), and use that just to get my phone up to date.
