RJ's 1986 BMW 325e

This project is the result of a snapped timing belt back in early August of 2007 I believe.

If you’re looking for parts I have an entire 86 325e i’m parting out (minus body)

I always need parts but money is really tight rite now.

why didnt you get a head off the awd 3 series or the later e30 convertible? the 2.5 engine’s head has way better ports, bigger valves than the 2.7l.

The 2.5 head has hemispherical chambers. If I wanted to put a 2.5L head on my car I would have to swap out my crank, Pistons and rods or loose compression. This wouldn’t be so bad if I was going to put a turbo on in a reasonable period of time but thats not the plan.

So the head I supplied to the machine shop back in September? still hasn’t been disassembled yet. Apprently is warped and he cant get the rocker shafts out. I am taking apart the head that was in the car and has the bent valves to see if I can replace the valve guides myself and supply the head to the machine shop to speed things up.

Rocker shafts are out. Just need to get a hold of a valve spring compressor or find an alternative method of compressing the springs to remove the caps.

If you need a new head for that thing i’m only looking to get like 400 for the complete motor that’s in mine.

I love straight 6’s good luck with the build

I can get heads at a local junkyard for 25 dollars. I’m going to need a spare block but that wont be until next winter. I don’t have a job rite now so the beamer is pretty much dead in the water.

Thanks. Its been a pita thus far :eek4:

That is one giant motor

Good luck!

Cool choice, keep us posted.
