road trip gas question

Say I was to drive out to the border of PA and MD to pick up a bike. My two options being drive an 05 F-150 w/ the 5.4 or rent a colorado or dodge dakota for $90. Which would you think would save me the most money in gas taking into consideration the intial $90 rental fee of the colorado? BTW were talking about 12 hours round trip

does mileage matter on the rental?

Most likely the F-150 is the better option after you toss all other fees into it.

renting a small truck will not save you $90 in gas

the f150 will probably net you almost the same MPGs.

the colorado will probably get you like 21 while the f150 will be around 19

F150: 800 miles / 15mpg * $2.50/gal = $133 total fuel cost

Small truck: [$133 - $90 = $43 / $2.50/gal = 17.2 gallons] 800miles/17.2 gallons = 46 mpg

If the Colarado or Dakota gets 46 mpg then it’s worth it:mamoru:
